Is this okay? :confused:I know I have read here on YT that it is okay to give our babies yogurt. I should've posted this before I did it but here goes.....yesterday I cut up 1 large strawberry into small bits and put like 2 tablespoon of fat free vanilla yogurt on top them. OMG, Cody loved it, he did not come up for air until it was all gone. My question is....was this right to do and should I never do this again? |
yougrt is fine for dogs, i give it to pepper as a treat as well. about the strawberries not so sure. try googling dogs and strawberries and see what comes up. |
Dogs are lactose intolerant and can't digest dairy products well. Some do better with them than others. Most dogs do fine if given a small amount of yogurt...the lactose is already broken down some in yogurt. I wouldn't give a large amount at once, but a tablespoon or maybe two should be fine every once in a while |
Plain yogurt is fine. The best kinds are those with the most active cultures. You can give flavored but the sugar isn't too healthy, so I usually give plain. As MyFairLacy said, most dogs are lactose intolerant. Yogurt or cottage cheese given in small amounts should be fine but you need to watch for GI upset if you want to do this often. Strawberries are safe. |
Mine get plain yogurt and love it .WE make our own yogurt here. |
I have only given plain non fat yogurt to Max...but he'd been throwing up off and on for a day and a half, not sure what the cause was. He was FINE otherwise. I gave him some PeptoBismol which he also upchucked almost immediately, and about 15 min. later, I tried giving him some of the yogurt. He loved it and either he had run the course of whatever was wrong with him, or the yogurt settled his tummy b/c he had no problem at all after that. I was pretty surprised, but very glad! So now I keep a small container of plain yogurt in the fridge just in case. |
