Knotted Hair from Rolling around So when my Momo got spayed a week ago the vet told me not too bath her or have her groomed for a week (obviously) well to combat her itchy healing incision and skin all this week Momo rolled all over our carpet. Momo has the very fin cotton candy kind of coat so this resulted in turning most of her coat into what I can only describe as dread locks and total knots. I cannot brush them out with her regular brushes. I am going to take her to the groomers in a couple of days and fear that they are going to tell me they can't de-matt her, I've been growing her out with lots of luck from a time just five months ago when they had to shave her and I really don't want to shave her short again. Any suggestions for what to tell the groomers or for something I can do to help de-tangle her before I get there? |
oh boy! Let me know if you come up with something! Zoe is horrible with matts...she hates being combed and after her bath I can have her all brushed out, put her down and she is off scooting herself all over the floors! She is the Queen of matting hair! |
there are de-matting brushes that work...depending on the severity! Here is a link to the brushes on pet-edge! http://grooming.petedge.com/catalog/...&Ntt=dematting Hope this helps! |

I just recommended this on another post, Cowboy Magic Detangler. It's made for horses, but it's great for getting out mats. You can buy it online, but some people say they have purchased it at horse/tack shops. |
I wonder if you could get her wet and put lost of conditioner on her and comb her out while wet. Not sure how well this would work but I know it use to work great on my daughter when she had really long hair. |
same issue After getting GA spayed she got matted too! I bought the dematting comp. it has blades on it that cut through so it is not that painful for her. It worked out great! I usually wash her in the bathroom sink. and fill it up with conditioned water...and comb her in there... PS...I just got back from a weekend trip to NY and she is funky! Def needs a bath! |
