Hairball? OKay no one is responding to my other post. I'll try again: I am almost positive chloe has somethign teennny tiny stuck in her throat. I didnt see her eat anythign but that is what her hacking noise sounds like. She can eat , drink and breath fine, so its no HUGe deal but I am still worried. She is trying to hack something up but accomplishing nothing. Any ideas on how to help this object go up or down? |
give her bread ! thats what we do with kayko when he eats lint lol |
You could call a Vet they might be able to tell you something to help. |

Okay I gave her some bread and I think that helped. I knew you guys would have a good idea! |
I thought my pomeranian was choking on something as well but I was surprised when the Vet told me it was coughing. The hacking sound was due to the phlegm he wants to spit out. I was given the meds and after a week it was gone. I just couldn't say for sure if it's the same case as mine. Do go to your Vet. It would make you feel at ease once you get the answer from a professional. lots of kisses from Pickles and Goodluck to you! |
I just got on and did respond to your other post. Bread is good option and eating grass to help them trow up is a natural option also. I mentioned in my other thread that she will eat it if she knows she needs to. Cats and dogs both do it for hairballs and whatever else they don't want in their stomachs or throats. Hope she is all better. |

Could it be reverse sneezing? My friends shih tzu and my other friend's boston terrier used to do it all the time. My Rika does the real sneezes when she gets over excited like that. Reverse sneezing is usually pretty harmless though. |
On hairballs...we used to give my cat a bit of vasaline on our fingers - they lick it off and it helps soothe that hacking - I don't know if this helps but it's worth a try ...it will NOT hurt them to ingest a little |

What is revese sneezing? I just saw another post asking about it. Can it happen suddenly and last for 1 1/2 hours? |
Well, is she actually coughing "out" of her mouth or is she sucking air "in" through her nose? |
i did reply to your other post. I said maybe kennelcough. Chewy had kennelcough and it sounds like he has something stuff in his throat.. I would check with your vet just to make sure.. |
I'm sorry I don't have any advice for you other than to call the vet. I hope she is ok. :) |
New Info Revealed!!! Have More Questions What do you think of this? Hey guys she has gotten a lot better. However in the past hour my friend came over and heard the noise(she described it as a honking noise) and she said her Boston terrier makes the same noise. She said that sometimes little dog's pallettes collapse and causes them to make that noise. She said its not really a problem. Sounds bad to me. Now of course she is no doctor( and I swear sometimes she pulls info out of her butt :D ) but has anyone heard of this? And how can that all of a sudden start happening to a dog? What do you guys think? I still think chloe is fine and she just had thread or a feather from my sewing room tickling her throat. But I want opinions :) |
That's definatley reverse sneezing. Harmless, but I would just mention to the vet she's doing it next time she goes for a check up. No need to worry. A lot of little dogs make the noise when they get too excited. |
