Pads of Katie's Feet Are Rough/Dry I've noticed that the pads of Katie's feet are rough and dry - not extremely, but enough to notice. Could this happen from her shampoo/conditioner? Is there such a thing as lotion for a dog's feet? |
i think dogs pads are supposed to be like that i know my boys pads are very rough and dry :D |

If your pup goes outside that could make the pads rough, walking on the pavement and such. There is stuff for the pads. I have even used a human product on Reagan and rubbed it into her paws but this was mainly to get her used to me messing with her feet. I would think that if you pup goes outside that there prob isn't much point to using something. I don't think it hurts them at all. |
A certain amount of roughness is normal. Though I did see wipes for dogs' pads at the vets office. |
Last week when I had to bring Jake to the vet I asked her about Buddy's paws. She suggested "Protecta-Pad" it is for hunting dogs and working dogs paws and elbows. I found it at Petsmart, it seems to be working already. |
I don't really walk Codie and Katie outside a lot. They go potty on wee wee pads. I don't take them out for walks in this humidity - I'm too afraid they'll get sick. When I do take them out in this weather, it's usually in the air conditioned car. Once the weather cools up a bit I'll take them back out for their nightly walk. |
Your thread made me curious so of course I had to call Schatzie over so I can touch her little paw pads. They are smooth. But as you, she is not outside much. If the pads are not cracked deep and seem sore I would not worry. As mentioned, a butter balm might help. |
