Car Sick???? This coming Saturday I'm driving to Dallas to pick up my new baby Lola!! :D However, Dallas is a 4 hour drive from me... I'm really worried because shes only 2 months old & I've never driven that far with a new baby. Is it likely for her to get car sick? I thought about pulling over several times throughout the drive back home, & letting her out to play for a while. Any suggestions on how I could keep Baby Lola from getting car sick? |
You can give a ginger snap cookie before leaving but since the pup is so young, I don't know if that will work. BUMP |
We gave our pup 1/2 Bonine tablet 1 hour before our 5 hour car ride home. It worked brilliantly and was approved by our Vet before the trip. Our Breeder informed us that these tablets are very widely and safely used in the show world for transporting the dogs from one location to another and avoiding the car sick issue. There are no drowsiness side effects and they can be purchased over the counter at any pharmacy, such as Walgreens, etc. |
I know the feeling. When we went to pick up our Odie the drive was about as long as yours. I took so much in case he got car sick. And you know he slept all the way home. LOL But we took our other yorkie with us and maybe that helped. Just go prepared and it'll be just fine.:animal-pa |
My 9 month old gets car sick BUT if she is in her crate she doesnt..I think she just feels more safe in there and she isnt falling all over the place and getting woozy..so maybe a small crate with comfy blankets and like you said a few pit stops on the way home to have some fresh air and a pee break..good luck!! |
Lucy travels in a Lookout car seat and since it sits so high she can look out and around her and doesn't get sick... |
Crate is the way to go - my little girl loves loves loves the car - she's a freak about it, but her brother gets sick when he's just free to be in the car. We put him in his crate and he's good to go...not that he likes it, but doesn't get sick at all! Good luck with the new baby |
