We are not new to animals as I have raised Dobermans for quite some time now also but we would like some opinions on potty training our little girl, and anything else you think we should know being new to the breed. Thank you for in advance, Steve and April Proud new owners of A YORKIE!!!!!!!!:) :) |
I can't help you with potty training as my girls are still working on it and it varies from day to day if they are having a successful day or not. I just wanted to say Welcome can't wait to see pics :D |
The picture will be coming shortly...thank you for the warm welcome.. |
Welcome to YT! I've seen your avitar picture on here before I think..did you buy from a breeder on YT? |
WE bought from A local breeder close to our home town |
Welcome to YT! |
Hi and welcome to YT! Can't wait to see a picture of Daphney. With potty training are you going to be using pads, or strictly outdoors? |
we would like to do strictly outdoors with her |
Welcome to YT and best of luck with the new pup! We are glad you are here! Maybe you could teach the pup the bell by the door trick? Some people on here use that method and have lots of success. I'm sure you could search the topic, there is TONS of info on pottytraining here! |
Welcome to YT! Good luck with the potty training! I hope someone can give you some good tips! |
Welcome to YT!!! You'll need a lot of patience with the potty training. I just got Harley (8 months old) trained. The peeing was easy, but the pooping took a while. I bought some Charlie Bear treats and only give them when he does his business and it seemed to help. Try to take her to the same place each time so she'll become familiar with what you want her to do. Best of luck! |
Thank you all for such A warm welcome |
Hi and Welcome to YT! :welcome4: |
well first off, WELCOME! and congratz on your new baby =] as far as the potty training goes, when I got Odie at 8 weeks also, i would take him outside every couple of hours and just let him sniff around and if he went then he went. i did use pee-pee pads for a couple of months and when i would hear him walking around on them i would immediately calls his name so he would look up and forget what he was doing and then take him outside after those few months he realized what he was supposed to be doing! and now he goes to the door or comes and barks at me and jumps all over me to let me know lol good luck, hope this helps! *also, i know some ppl who would use pee-pee pads and gradually move them closer to the door so the dog was getting closer and closer outside* |
