not pulling teeth. what kind of problems do they cause? i'm asking because some people are telling me not to get my baby's teeth pulled and that it's a waste of money can anyone tell me what bad could happen if i don't get them pulled? |
The gums can get infected or the teeth could become aligned wrong (the bite be off) |
I am so glad that you asked this question 'cause I am the same way. Murfee still has one baby canine....he's 4. I am thinking about having it removed but am so afraid of anesthetic. So far we haven't had a problem. Good luck. |
Also food can get caught inbetween the baby teeth and adult teeth and cause problems |
are these issues really serious though? like food getting caught? i mean i could always brush his teeth regardless i need to get them removed but i was just asking because i want to see how serious it could be |
It can kill a Yorkie if to many of the teeth get infected. It will slowly poison their heart and main organs. We had to put an 8 year old Yorkie rescue down because her teeth had never been attended to and by the time we got her, her heart was so enlarged due to the poison she could barely breath. It was very sad. |
I had made an appointment to have Maxwell's four baby canine teeth pulled, then 3 came out on their own after he turned 1 yr. old; so I cancelled the appt. I have been keeping his teeth clean and even flossing (which I heard about on YT). Waiting saved me several hundred dollars (the estimate was almost $400), because I also didn't want him to go under. He was already "fixed" when I got him, so I couldn't double-duty. He is 13 months old, and I hope to wait out this last canine. I know he will have to have his teeth cleaned periodically. |
Bella had one baby tooth left. We tugged a lil every week and gave her tons of chews (bullysticks) and water bottle caps!! She was scheduled to have it pulled on 3/12 when she is to be spayed. She is 15 months. I would have to floss that tooth because it was constantly packed with food. In addition to brushing..which she hates, I also use the petzlife spray. He teeth look great now. This past tuesday I took bella in for a blood draw and shot and the vet tech was holding her down and i guess applied the perfect amount of pressure because it popped out on its own. My vet was only charging me 10 bucks to pull the tooth. Not taking care of their teeth will lead to misery. Just like human teeth, decay causes pain. It can also lead to infection which could affect the entire body, heart disease, osteomylitis (Infection)of the skull. Prevention will save you tons of money in the long run and the baby will have a happier life. |
Callie had two adult canine teeth grow in when she still had her two baby canines and they were actualy hurting her she would cry out and rub her mouth on the carpet and with her paws and bit everything so as soon as we realized it we called the vet and they wanted to pull them asap so we got that done and her fixed at the same time so she only had to go under once but it got so bad waiting for chritmas to get over with so she could go in that she would only eat soft food. |
i had bentley, karlee, and parker's teeth pulled.. They all had a like 2 or 3 that wouldn't fall out. this was around 7-8 months.. so i just had them pulled b/c their adult teeth were coming in.. now Star's are doing the same. Our vet said it's not a big deal to take them out..but leaving them IN can cause alot of future problems! Better Safe than sorry! |

Teeth that aren't taken care of will cause infection to spread in the gums. If left alone the infection will get worse and spread into the blood stream, thus spreading the infection throughout the body. |
i didn't realize that the teeth would have so many issues.. i know i'm definitely going to clean them.. i always have been cleaning them.. and that story about that dog is so sad.. i just dn't know if i should wait it out or what? ahhh.. my sister didn't get rocky's pulled when he got neutered.. and his fell out fine.. but i'm worried chippy's won't come out.. they're not BUDGINg at all.. |
