New Addition? Hi All, I found this great forum accidentally and thought I might be able to get your honest opinion. I currently have a 11month old yorkie and have been thinking of getting another puppy. Although I have always had a yorkie, I've never had two at the same time. At the moment, Chelsea is my baby and goes everywhere I go. I wonder how much harder it is once you have 2. For those that have multiple babies, are you forced to leave them at home or are you able to continue the same routine you had prior to the new addition? Thanks so much for your advice. :D |
Reece was my baby until Soleil came into the picture...the difference is that Soleil HATES going in the van and she gets scared and throws up so she is quite content to stay home while we go out haha..now that Pixie is here she likes car rides too so we have to take two of them with us..I have 4 dogs in total right now and it can be more difficult to have multiples BUT the rewards are 4 fold...I wouldnt have it any other way :D Dawn |
We now have two yorkies and I would not have it any other way! They are the best of friends. We do take Autumn in the car more often then Blaze but that is only because Blaze gets car sick!!!:( |
I also only have one yorkie, Rascal. When he turns one, I am going to get another little yorkie. It is helpful to hear suggestions and concerns. Has anyone ever had a problem with two or more yorkies getting along?:questione I know they are spirited dogs and easily get excited, but does that ever cause jealousy? |
I have 2 now (just got word from my breeder that she had 2 girls in this litter), my female, Babsy, is 4 and I got her when she was 3, she really doesn't appreciate the car rides like my 7 month old male, Gizmo, does. I started taking him places from day 1 and assuming my new baby likes going she will join us when she gets here. |
Dawn, they are so adorable together! They are like two peas in a pod! :aimeeyork :aimeeyork Its so common to see two yorkies in one house. They are an addicting breed... LOL! I know that Chelsea would love it. I'm just worried that I won't be able to give her the same attention! |
well i have three but can tell you my babies always need to be together...if one is in another room, the others will get all crazy and yippy until they are all together again :D ... i am not sure it is because they love each other THAT much - i think someone feels like they are missing out on something :p i only had one for about 2 days so not sure how much harder 2 is than one :) |
Is it easier to get a the opposite sex? Chelsea was my first female and she was so much easier to train. My last little guy was a real mess! |
I just have the one but wanted to say hi and welcome. |
Thanks so much! I can't believe how great you guys are! I think I am just thinking too much. I have been looking at puppies for months now. |
forgot to add: "they are like pringles; you can't have just one" |
I tried adding another furbaby but it just didn't work. Tilly was very scared of him. She started hiding and peeing all over herself. It just kept getting worse, so we had to take the puppy back. I would love to have another furbaby but I know that wont be happening. I think most add a dog just fine. I would take her around other dogs and give the other dogs some attention, she how she reacts. Some dogs are just a one dog type, like Tilly, but I think you will be alright. :) |
She's really good with other dogs, especially the small ones. My cousin bought a boy from the same breeder and they get along great. |

We had two pugs both males and that was fine. So we went w/a male and have been so happy. Autumn is a bit bossy at times but Blaze is such a love bug. Most people told me that the males were very mushy and momma's boys..........they were so right! Regarding training him, Blaze was fully housebroken w/in 4 weeks of having him. Having Autumn really helped though because she was trained and Blaze just followed suit!!! |
