new and a few q's Hi I'm new here and just by reading all the other threads and answers to them I have learned things but I have some questions of my own that i was hoping yall could help me with my yorkie is 9 months old and I keep her hair on her ears trimmed liked is suggested and they never stood up but I cant bring myself to tape them and they are cute floppy like they are, but is it normal for some yorkies to just never have their ars go up and just have floppy ears? Also my other question is she is 12 pounds and her mother was 10 pounds and shes not over weight at all and she has papers and everything saying shes full yorkie and i'm ok with her size because she is just perfect for me and i was wondering if there are bigger yorkies like my Callie or if anyone has any? Thank you. |

I never worried about getting Teddy's ears to stand up. also Moggie and Caleb (the babies i am about to get) are both around the 10 lb range! |
There are many yorkies that have floppy ears...if you do a search on here of "floppy ears" you are apt to find pictures of some with ears that way. Sometimes the ears are to large to stand and/or to much hair was left on them and weighed them down. My first yorkie's ears flop over just a bit...I didn't know any better back then and didn't even think/know to try taping them. There are also MANY yorkies (again here on YT) that are over the standard 3-7 lb size....and many that are over your girls 12 lbs. Again, a search of maybe the word "teapot yorkies" might find you pictures of some of them. Welcome to Yorkie Talk.........stick around for a wealth of great information on just about any question you might have. |
Welcome to YT! Yes, there are many larger yorkies on YT. Just do a search for "Teapot" yorkies. (Teapot is a term that someone coined that means a larger yorkie, just as "teacup" is suppose to mean smaller yorkie!);) As for the ears I think floppy ears are cute. I would let them be. But that is JMHO!:D I hope you find all your answers here on YT, as I'm sure you will!:) |
Welcome to YT! You can see in my avatar that my little Madeleine has floppy ears. I just love them :p Also, there are lots of bigger yorkies here on YT, they sometimes call them teapots :) |
Thank you everybody! Yall are so nice on here. Thank you again. |
:wavey: Welcome to YT. |
welcome to YT, you will love it here. I love the floppy ears look. either way, these babies are adorable. Look how cute your baby is. |
Tyson's ears flop as well. I'm hoping they will stand on their own with some massaging. He'll stand them up for a bit here and there...but I'm actually liking the floppy ears. |
:wavey: Just wanted to welcome you to the greatest internet site ever :D Glad to have you both on YT!! |
Hi and welcome, My kass is a bit over 9 lbs and floppy ears too and she is purebred so yes they come in all sizes. Personally I prefer them a bit bigger as we lead an active life and she goes where we do. |
