What's a mommy to do! For the past 7 months, my brother and mother have been relocated to Minneapolis. My 22 year old brother has a rare, RARE condition known as Fanconi's Anemia -- which if left untreated can turn into leukemia. Two bone marrow transplants later, he seems to be on the road to recovery. (we jut need our insurance to get into gear, because all of a sudden -- they don't want to pay my brothers bills.) each transplant is $1 million, our insurance gave him a cap of $250,000. not nearly enough. I will be leaving on March 10 or 17, the date so far is undecided, and staying with my mom and brother for 2 or 3 weeks. i will miss my little Sophie soo much, but i am thankful to have family that is willing to watch her. The last time i stayed in Minneapolis, i stayed for a month -- but that was before Sophie belonged to me. I'm terrified something is going to happen. She's only 3 months old, and not microchipped. our only insurance if something happens is her tag, which doesn't always help. All i can do at this point is pray -- for my family to return home to Louisiana, and for Sophie to be safe while I am gone. your prayers would be appreciated too. :) oh and if you are wondering why i can't bring her, the apartment my family is staying at doesn't allow pets, and my brother cannot be around animals, considering he has such a comprimised immune system. :( |
Oh, my gosh - I am SO sorry your family is going through so much! I wish you all the best. Who will be watching Sophie? There are so many YTers in MPLS. - maybe a kind soul would watch her in MPLS. while you're there...??? :) |
Why not microchip her before you leave? sorry about your brother. It is so frustrating that insureance companies are able to dictate who lives and who dies. I hope when the democrats get into office they make some major changes for health insurance companies. |
Thoughts and prayers your way. |
My prayers are with you and your family, hope all goes well. |
Sending prayers and warm wishes your way... |
Praying for your brother and just make sure the family watching Sophie has specific instructions on how to properly care for her. I am sure she will be fine. |

I agree with Wylie's Mom. I really think you should look into another YTer puppysitting, if you will. That way she'd be close and you could visit her every day. |
