yorkie's w pancreatis and kids---do they mix? Hello Friends! My little yorkie Bruiser had a bought with pancreatitis almost 2 years ago, we almost lost him. But today he is on a strict diet and is doing very well. My husband and I have recently started talking about having children but I worry so much about my furbaby and wanted to see if anyone out there has kids and a dog on a stict diet and how they handle it. Bruiser is my first baby so I need to find a way to keep him happy and healthy for the rest of his life. When we have kids and the kids are eating should I just baby gate him in a room, just in case the kids drop food??? Any advice or anyone dealing with this? |
I had dogs all my life, of course, I didn't have any of them with pancreatitis..but, my kids were taught from day one to be nice to dogs..as far as you wondering on the food, babies start eating on their own around a year or right after, so, yes, since your little guy has had problems, I would just gate him off..some dogs do tend to get jealous when there are babies around though..I know a lady down here rehomed her little yorkie when she had a baby, as the dog would never accept it.. |
we have a corgi on a strict diet and we just make sure she is crated when the kdis eat, and i run the vaccume under the table when they finish, its been fine. i have four kids and the babies do wonderful with the little pups |
it really shouldnt be a problem as long as you keep the dog away from the babys food. i had a dog with the same issue and things were fine once the kids learned and i learned to keep the dog away when they were eating. |
Once the children are a 2 or 3 yrs old, they should be able to understand not to feed the dog also... |
