reusable pee pads Ok here are the questions. My little ones think that the pee pads we use are toys or something. Most times they will move it and go on the carpet where it was.I have read about the cloth reusable pads and wondering if they work. If so how hard are they to make. My mom is a genius when it comes to sewing. Please help I'm at my wits end |
I love my washable pee pads. I am a sewer, but I don't know how to do these. I get them from Nancy (Little Bit) and they are awesome. She has really great fabrics and they are absorb great and hold the smell AND they are reasonably priced. |
Got mine from www.personallypaws.com They are high quality and wash out without much effort. I have one that likes to even drag the cloth ones around.:confused: (I have the extra large ones.) I've taken a long piece of cloth, wrapped it around a solid object and pinned it on the underside at the very edge. Stopped the moving around and accidents.:) |

I have some from Lilbit, too. I have a daughter that works in a nursing home and she got me some smaller ones that they use on chairs. Which are the perfect size for my 12 week old Myah. My mom is covering them so we don't see the pee spots. My sewing machine decided not to sew for me, not that I like to. I hate it. So if you know of someone that works in a nursing home, you may beable to get a couple "soakers" to try. |
Joey wasn't great at using the disposable pee pads either. One use and that was it, no matter how big the pad, and he loved to tear them up. I decided to make some, just to try it out. Founds some white bath towels on sale for $1.00 and sewed them in half. I never had a problem with leakage, but you could make them thicker if needed or even sew an absorbent pad between. I personally like my white so that I can see when it needs to be changed. He'll only use it once and if a clean pad isn't available, my carpet gets it. Many dogs don't mind using the same pad for several days and there are many cute fabrics to use, just use something absorbent in between. |
Oh, I meant to add, before I used them, I washed them with something he peed on; the scent was enough to keep him coming back. When you wash them don't use any scent removers or enzymes, just regular detergent. |
I love the reusable pads Emmy is 1 yr old and 4 lbs, but she would shred the disposable pads like a bear. I love the reusable pads. I also get them from PersonallyPaws.com. I wash them every other day. I also spray the spray that attracts them to the pad from Petsmart. |
They are wonderful I got mine from the nursing home..I use mine in the whelping box the first few weeks. I still use the disposable and newspaper when potty training as I do not want them to think fabric and carpet are the same. Have any of you had a problem with training pups with them then the pups going on carpet etc?? |
thanks Thanks for all the tips I drug my mom to the fabric store and she came up with some ideas. She is first going to make me some for our whelping box as we are expecting puppies in the next few weeks. Hope they work. Her idea is to make them similar to a baby blanket. |
