Yorkie Pancreatitus PLEASE PAY ATTENTION! :note2: Yorkie Pancreatitis - PLEASE PAY ATTENTION! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is been my month so far......On July 2nd we woke and our 6 1/2 year old Precious, 4.8 lbs, had thrown up her dog food in our bed. (All sleep with us)..All cleaned up and then she seemed fine all day Sat and Sun. The morning of the 4th, I woke to diarrea on my pillow and she was still laying there. ...All cleaned up again and she acted ok but like she just had upset tummy or didn't feel really perky. That was about 8 am and approx 3 pm we left to go for a ride and have dinner. When we arrived home about 7 she was GONE! No explanation from our vet, said we could get an autopsy but often they did not show the real cause of death for sure. We didn't want that anyway as the pain was already unbearable for my husband and I. We had her cremated and she sits in my office in her little urn. On the evening at 2 in the am of the 10th, our other yorkie, vomited. I was still up and saw this. Watched her til about 3 and she kinda spit up again. By 8 that morning my husband had her at the hospital. She was diagnosed with pancreatitis. She was touch and go and in ICU for two days. Thank God Sassi is home and much better but our sweet baby girl Precious is gone forever, til we meet at the bridge! This disease runs in yorkies. As a matter of fact they are the #2 most suceptible. (sp?) PLEASE do not feed your babies table scraps or anything with fat! I beg you to pay attention if your yorkie starts vomiting and get her to a Dr IMMEDIATELY! Don't want others to go thru what we have been through the last 13 days and certainly do not want any babies to suffer cause you may not know this! __________________ Chlois - Precious' & Sassi's Mommie |
I'm SO SORRY for you - OMG you must be devestated....To have both so close together get this ill must have been so scary - I'm really happy that you have Sassi home with you but am so so sorry about Precious. I hope Sassi continues to do well and stay happy and healthy & Precious IS waiting for you at Rainbow Bridge....I know that doesn't make it any easier in easing your pain....but try to remember her playing and happy and watching over you and her sister....Hang in there and hugs to you. xoxxoVillette |
How sorry I am to hear about Precious. Thank God that you acted quickly with Sassy as you saved her life. Our prayers are with you! |
You have such beautiful babies!!!! Just looked at all their pictures! Thank you for your sympathy....It is torture missing Precious! God Bless and take great care of those babies!! |
I am so sorry you have had a horrible month. Thank you for sharing your story and your insight with us. I am new to this but can someone define "table scraps" Does this mean I should not give puppy ANY human food? Even plain meat on occasion? |
Shelby's Mom I am by no means an expert at this, however, we have been told no people food at all for our yorkies, by our vet. Now many say they feed them boiled chicken and rice (no seasonings). WOULD HAVE TO JUST BE YOUR DECISION. I suggest if you trust your vet that you follow his or her recommendations! |
I am so sorry to hear about poor little Precious. I'm sure that it's no consolation, but I guess it's a blessing that you still have Sassi. I am so grateful that you posted this thread. I am a recently new yorkie owner and it's very helpful that I can learn more about them from others on this forum. I'm sure that this will help quite a few people. My prayers are with you, your family and Sassi for Precious. |
so sorry to hear about Precious...we just lost a puppy (out of a litter and I was devestated) so I can just imagine your pain...thanx for sharing, I knew that it was bad to give tablescraps to Chloe, but now I will really adhere to this!! |
I'm so sorry. I heard no table scraps but was under the impression that it would lead to obesity since they have such small frames. I didn't know it would kill them! I know chocolate is poisonous. I gave my puppy a little tilapia because I figured it was healthy. Thanks for the info. |
I am so sorry to hear about Precious and thank you very much for the imformation. |
Sorry to hear of your loss. Thanks for the tip and reminder to others about table scraps. I'm very strict with what mine eat mainly because of wait gain and really have never thought of it contributing to Pancreatitis. |
I am so sorry for your loss. I am glad Sassi is doing better though. |
Lord have mercy! I am so, so sorry to hear about Precious. I know what you're going through. My Yorkie Coty is missing and I am heartsick, but my heart goes out to you for the loss of sweet Precious. I am praying for you and your family. Hugs to you all. Take care of Sassi. I pray that her recovery is immediate and swift so that she can comfort you all and bring joy to you when you definitely need it. |
