could use advice I am taking in this puppy for a little while my friend and I try to find it a new home. My problem is Andy has a tendency to slip back into his bad potty ways when the pup is around. AND ANDY KNOW HE IS DOING WRONG! He looks at me like please don't catch me please don't catch me. I want to help my friend but how do I get Andy to follow the rules while still trying to further train the puppy. |
Is he looking at you before or after he goes? If it is before maybe try re-directing him by either a noise or a water bottle, and then get him outside right away. |
well the last time my friend was over with her pup and andy was hunched down over in a spot looking at me and I realized what he was doing and shouted no and he took off running(with it dragging behind) He knows where he is supposed to go I just don't understand why I can take him outside be out there forever and come back in and the puppy is there he decides to take a dump (its mostly just pooping he does) |
Maybe this will help. When ever another dog comes over, I make it a point to meet them outside and we go for a walk around the block, or until they are walking side by side ignoring one another before they come in. This seems to help with the territorial issue. |
If the puppy is having accidents and you are not cleaning it up with an enzyme cleaner, Andy will be able to smell those spots and do what almost any normal dog would do--go at the same spot. And, of course, there is a possibility that he is jealous. It's hard on an established dog to began sharing his domain with another. Good luck. Just be patient. It will work out with persistence.:) |
