Does your puppy get so excited that it pee's? The other day i took Dim Sum to a friends house and we went in the front door. Of course he got the usually reaction "awww how cute, come here cutie, come on, let me pet you. your so cute" blah blah. Anyways during that introduction I noticed him squatting as he was so excited and I grabbed him only to notice a little pee coming out. I know he did not have to really go because he went outside so I was kind of shocked. Is this normal for them when they get really really excited? Should I try to moderate the introductions so they don't excite the dog too much? He just loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees people. |
i know some dogs do, ziggy doesnt. I say that now but tomorrow, he will:p :p |
Lacy has done that before. It usually happens when she is excited to meet another dog. |
Yes, it happens. Kaba especially does it when she sees her daddy and a few other good friends of ours. A friends dog does the same thing, so we always do introductions outside. That way its not hurting anything. :) Or as my friend does, she asks people to ignore the dog for a while until they get used to everyone. I dont think its that big of deal though... and to answer your question about the other post...no dim sum is must be different in japan if what your talking about is a noodle... |
be careful outside dont let him run off. so many bad story's |
I think the key is to ignore or down play the introductions. I always say daddy's home and my dogs go nuts for their daddy. But we don't have excitement pee... If we did it would be a different story. my dog growing up used to pee on my dad's foot when he came home. He would get her all excited then she would pee and he would be mad. By the way, being mad can make them pee too!!! |
Our pup does the excited pee sometimes. Our trainer and vet both said she could grow out of it and also to keep everything very calm when guests come over. I have everyone ignore her until she calms down a bit before pets/play. It's difficult when we are out walking and someone comes up to us because they want to pet/play with her now and don't want to wait for her to settle down. If I know company is coming over I try to have her go potty before they arrive and that helps out a lot. |

I noticed Maverick did that the other day. His little tail was a waggin' and he was a peein'. HAHA! I think it's just when he gets really excited though and not much pee comes out. |
Hallee does it all the time. Never fails that she pees every time she sees us when we pick her up at the groomers. One time she was so excited to see my niece she peed on her lap. Of course my niece did not think it was too funny. |
The high pitched "aaaawwww" is what gets my 1 yr. old, Chipper. When someone comes in I always ask them to please refrain from talking to Chipper or touching him. Even after awhile, I still ask the visitor to squat down to speak to Chipper. Sitting is even better. Been working so far. |
:p Belle only does it when she sees my bf... now what we do is he goes to the puppy pad to say hi to her, so she potties on her pad and not my floor... since we live in an apartment and don't have the luxury of outside intros;) i forgot to add, i live with my parents so she doesnt always see my bf, but she loves him, so she gets super excited when she does get to see him |
