x-pen Ok so once I found out what one was, I ordered it offline last night...B/c right now he stays in a kennel while we are gone, which he does fine in. Ok so here are my questions. Do they try to jump/climb out? If I put potty pads down will he tear them up? I'm afraid he'll tear them up while we are gone and do his business on the floor... Any advice? |
My baby does jump up against the sides of the xpen when he's in there. He barks for about 10 minutes then settles down. I think as he grows (he's 11 weeks now and 2lbs 10oz) that he will be able to get out of it by climbing. We have thought that we may end up getting a tarp or some screen to cover the top when he gets bigger. I use washable pee pads and he doesn't bother them but will dig up the diaposable ones. I hope this helps. Good luuck! |
height... Well I have a large puppy b/c he's 7 pounds at 12 weeks! So we got it 30 inches high...I wonder if that will be high enough? How high is yours? |
My x-pen is also 30" high and my biggest baby is about 8# or more. She probably could jump up high enough to then climb out but she doesn't. I always put them in the pen 'through the door' and never 'over the sides' so I don't think they see that as a way out:) Hope that helps! |
OH!! Good idea!! I'll have to tell hubby that...b/c I'm sure he'll just lift him right over...thanks!! |
I have some that stay in, don't climb or jump. I have one that can jump over anything and another that will climb out. A top may help. If they are climbers you don't want to get it too tall, because if they still climb they have farther to fall on the other side. Another option is to line the inside of the pen with a smooth slick surface. I used a clear heavy plastic shower curtain cut to the size of each panel and held in place with zip ties. It stopped the climbing, but eventually they started chewing on the edges and tearing it. Plastic plexiglass would be perfect, but expensive and hard to cut. I don't use an ex pen only when I have puppies, but I had to be sure the mother wouldn't climb out and hurt herself. Please let us know if you find something that works for you. |
My pen is 26" high so we may need to put the screen over the top when he gets bigger. My your puppy is a big little one! More of him to love :p |
