to people who use dog carrier purses ... how in the world do you get your baby to LIKE being in there and not make any noise? lots of treats? my little one doesnt like it and ive tried toys, treats etc... i really want to be able to take her out as i feel bad leaving her in the house for even an hour. any tips? :animal-pa |
I have never had any trouble, but I have heard you should open the bag and put it on the floor and let the puppy play in it and around it to get it used to the bag. I have found that if the bag isn't big enough it's not comfortable for mine. I put a blanket on the bottom, try to make it comfortable. Make sure there is plenty of ventilation and just remember that some bags get hot in there really fast. I worry so much about my babies being comfortable in a bag... i need to find the right one. Try doing fast little trips in the bad... Walk around the house for 2 minutes then 3 then 4 to get them used to it. I might try to make one. (Who knows how THAT will turn out!!!):confuse2: |

I like the idea of putting it on the floor so she gets used to it... I think I will try that along with the walks around the house! |
I have had no problems with Jeter he loves his carrier and will climb in on his own during the day. He also is quiet on his own while we are out shopping. He falls a sleep a lot on our trips;) |
I left mine out to get her used to it. She sniffed/chewed/played on it and in it for several weeks and figured out it wasn't so scary or bad. Now when I get it out she gets so excited and hops right into it! |

They know when I get the bag out that I am going somewhere and they fight to see who can get in first! They are usually pretty good while we are out. I do sometimes bring a bully stick for them to chew on if I am going to be gone very long, like when I went to a parent's meeting at my daughter's school!!! (it was a large group in the auditorium). I only take one at a time, though, unless it's to the vet or something. |
McKenzie is the only one of mine that enjoys her carrier. I put a soft fleece carrier size blankie in there and a toy and she just looks out of the little mesh window and relaxes :) I never hear a peep out of her! |
i think maybe i need to wait until she gets a little older and less playful/wanting to run around like a crazy person |
i think it comes with age. sophie is 10 weeks old and HATES being in her carrier. the only time i put her in though, is when i'm driving between my house and my boyfriends house (i will not drive with her out of it) she puts up a fight. she knows how to undo the velcro so i need a bag that zips |
My Yorkie would dive into carrier She related carrier with getting to go for ride and to new places. I would place carrier near door and she soon learned reward was getting to go with me on new adventures. |
My little guy is only 11 weeks old and is really good in his carrier. I left it on the floor for the first week and put kibble in it. He went in and out playing and eating kibble. Now when I take him out in he just lays down and sleeps or quietly looks around. I usually put a favorite toy in with him. Good luck! I have had my lookout carseat on the floor for him to get used to for the last 10 days and he climbed into it on his own yesterday to chew his bully stick so I'm hoping the technique will work for the carseat as well. |
Mine does well with his bag because I started out with putting the bag on the floor too when he was 12 weeks old. I put some treats and kibbles in it and he will jump in and out and hide his toys there sometimes. I slowly introuce him to the bag by putting him in and walking around in the house for a few seconds the first time and then gradually building up the time. I used to walk to the grocery store and I will only put him in the bag when I near the store. He is so comfortable in there that he just lie down or fall asleep. Usually, he doesn't want to come out after that and I have to carry him all the way home. I do agree the bag has to be well-ventilated. It will help them to feel more comfortable. |
my boy jumps in the carrier whenever i get ready to go out. he stares at me with "mommy, puleeeze take me with you" eyes. :p |
i put the carrier on the floor today with some kibble and a toy and she wandered over and kept going in to get kibble.. im hoping she ends up liking it!! |
