treats what is good & healthy treat for training yorkies, we do kibble and biscuits but want something better for her. |

Honey nut Cheerios and Bil Jac liver treats work the best for my two! |
igive cheerios, dinfo chicken jerkey, solid gold liver treats and Gerber graduates freeze dried apple pieces, plus apple, watermelon, strwberries, green beans and peas!! |
For obedience training we use cheese flavored Charlee Bears. They are tiny treats Loki can almost eat in one bite. You want to use tiny treats so they don't have to stop to break them up and chew them and also so that they don't get too much! (We spend a LOT of time training which means lots of treats!) Loki loves goldfish crackers so these are a hit. We also use Waggin Train Chicken Jerky. It's just dehydrated chicken - it doesn't have all the junk in it that lots of "treats" do and it's cheap ($9 a BIG bag at Sam's Club). You have to cut or rip it up for Yorkies though because the pieces are huge. Loki will do anything for Chicken. We also use cheese occasionally - I usually get string cheese or the colby jack individually wrapped packages. Break it up REALLY small. This is good for new tricks he doesn't want to do (like drop his toy) or housebreaking (until they get it). Loki also loves Bananas but too much makes him sick. Test out any new food slowly! We learned that the hard way! Loki gets cheese when we attend training class because it helps keep his attention on ME and not the other dogs. Hope this helps! |
We use tiny pieces of American Cheese; string cheese; Mini Goldfish Crackers and the Waggin Train Chicken Jerky Tenders. |
I use small bits of soft and freeze dried liver treats, which I get from PetSmart. My dog trainer and groomer both suggested them since they're smelly (which dogs love), and they're healthy. They don't have any added dyes or stuff that's bad for the dogs. A groomer we know, who also shows her yorkies, said that anything with Red #40 in it is terrible for dogs to ingest (it's in most commercial dog treats). |
Cherios, fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen yoqurt or peanut butter in their kong, pupcorn and yoqurt drops. |
I use Cheerios for potty and sliced peeled apples for training. They also love small cute green beans and sliced cooked carrots. |
