confused..
 

He everyone, I've been reading here and there and im kind of confused now, maybe one of you can answer at some question that my COCO can't , he just barks when i ask him something.

ok first, he is just 4 months old, he still a puppy not a problem with that, the problem comes when i brush him, his hair wont go down for nothing, it goes down only while it is wet, but when it gets dry it turns fluffy and dry looking , like if he is not been shower ever!! i brush him every day with water and conditioner, i read somewhere here that its because his puppy hair its that true?? when he is gonna get rid of his puppy hair? do i have too shave him at certain age?, or its gonna fall by itself, do i have to change his diet?? he just eats dry food, OL'ROY green bag for vegetables, and PURINA onrange bag for fatty acids protein and some other stuff. Do you think that i shuld give him some vitamins suplements for shiny coat?? or maybe im jus freaking out to fast, my concern about his coat its because people think that i dont take care of my pet, one day i took him to the dog park after a bath and one guy came and rub his back and say " It looks like its time to take a bath and a really good brush" What!!! i really wanted to have the powers of transforming myself on a rally big mastiff and give him a nice bite!!!!!! (i know thats not right but i love my COCO). any suggestions any advice?? at this time anything will help!!

That is just puppy hair. He will shed it for his adult coat. Hopefully the adult coat will lay better for you. Ellie's coat is always wavy but that is the exception to the rule.

You can give fish oil and vitamin E for a shiny coat but it isn't necessary.

Do you have access to any of these foods:
Canidae
Wellness
Merricks
Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul
Evangers Canned

He is a cutie!!!! He will eventually lose his puppy hair but I know lots of people who give them a "puppy cut" I'm assuming that is because their hair can be so unruly!
You should probably change his diet though, Ol roy is not a good quality food. I'm sure someone will tell you all the reasons why!!

I think that's normal with the puppy coat. I brush Franklin every day and his hair is messy as can be. It'll probably change as he gets older.

I would suggest changing his diet, though. Purina and Old Roy are not very good foods and I bet a better quality kibble could help his coat. Canidae, Wellness, Merrick, Innova, California Natural, Orijen (there's a million!) are all good foods. You can find them at independently owned pet stores or feed stores.

If THAT doesn't work, you can add a fish oil/Vitamin E supplement to his food. A lot of people use EicosaDerm, you can find it here http://www.vetamerica.com/index.asp?...ROD&ProdID=674

This is the first time i heard of them, but there is alot of stores around here so, it should'nt be a problem to find them.

Looks like a puppy coat to me. It will gradually change over by itself. Keep brushing him and you'll notice poofs of dark fur coming out in the brush. Of course at this point you have no guarantee whether he'll have a silk coat or cottony....time will tell. The silk is the very straight smooth looking coat...the cottony is "fluffier" and more difficult to control.

I would suggest a better quality dog food instead of ol roy or purina.

I'd be changing foods to a high quality puppy food....a puppy coat will eventually turn to the adult coat but the pup has to be fed a better quality food for a coat to be healthy and shiney.

Great!! not even five minutes of posting and six different oppinions already!! thanks to all of you for your help!!

About the food i will definitely change it right now, i picked those because once you are at the store there is tons and tons of different brands!!! you dont even know where to look for!
But for his puppy hair, do i have to shave it or he will loose it itself? and if i have to cut it when?

When you change food do it gradually and I'd check out those foods given to you already, all are good. I would just let the puppy hair grow and it will change but if you don't want the coat to grow I would cut it in a puppy coat maybe at 7 to 8 months old.

OH hes sooo cute! My dexter has hair like that... he always looks like he needs a good washing and brushing! HAHA Its just the way some of them are... it should be a little easier for you when his puppy coat falls out though. My Dex has a cotton coat so his hair just never seemed to lay flat!

I would and do recommend a bit better brand of food. I feed my boys nutromax, its not the best but its the only one they LOVE. They do like Royal Canin and I think Im going to switch them back to that, its specifically made for yorkies and their special needs.

Other than that, hes a handsome and healthy looking boy! Don't let other people bother you! :)

Just a note on Royal Canin... there are mixed opinions on it. It works well for some, but a lot of others have had allergic reactions to it and don't like it. You might keep that in mind. I suppose it's like that with every food, but RC always seems to be controversial.

I've had no trouble with RC and actually changed all my dogs to Chicken Soup and guess what...several were allergic to Chicken Soup and I had to go back to RC. I've never had trouble with RC and those that I know that feed it doesn't have trouble either ;) but like with people being allergice to certain foods so can doggies :)
