Almond Oil I have a friend who has been breeding and training dogs for a while. I spoke with her today, and she told me I should put a teaspoon of almond oil in Lexi's food. She said since their hair is human like, this will make her coat healthier, and shinier. What do you guys think about this? What have you heard? |
lots of people like it but I used it on my show girl and it dryed her out and caused it to mat worse than ever. |
I have heard of spraying their hair with a mixture of almond oil and water but never in their food. That would be convient if it works. I know someone who sprays in on her yorkies, and it really does help with the coat. |
Might have to pick some up for Charlie! :) |
I don't think I'd risk using that kind of oil, it doesn't sound right.....I have heard of salmon oil & flaxseed oil but never almond oil for ingestion.....if you give a oil not intended for ingesting it can make your yorkie very ill and it can be very toxic...I wouldn't do it ..... |
oh, I didn't read that part about the food. I mixed it with warm water and rinsed my girl in it, putting her in oil to show. it was a disaster. I would never put it in food. never heard of that before. |
I'd ask the vet about that one. I don't think that sounds right. I'd give a little olive oil before I'd use the almond oil. |
I have a bottle of almond oil that is food grade it says on the label that it can be used for making salad oils, but I thought I read somewear that some nuts are toxic to dogs so I'm not sure about feeding it to them but I did rinse Remy with water and almond oil once..lol but I think I used a tad too much oil because she came out quite oily lol ( mental note to self...Use less oil next time! ) Eileen |
most high quality foods have enough oil in them... I use almond oil on the hair:D |
