Do you think she'll be ok?? Ok so last night I thought Coco was being too quiet. So I went into my room from cleaning up the kitchen, and there she was chewing and eating my VIACTIVE CALCIUM CHOCOLATE CHEW  I freaked out and took it away from her. She had only had about half of the small cube but still. Isn't chocolate poisonous to dogs? Anyway, she was fine all night (just wreaked of chocolate all night, with her mouth on my nose) and this morning she went poo poo. So she passed it, does that mean she's ok? She hasn't acted different, or felt sick. Her poo was huge though (sorry for the graphic nature). Any thoughts? |
She should be fine. Probably has stronger bones now too. |
I would call the vet JUST to make sure...(you know I'm paranoid) |
I also think she will be fine but I would let my vet know anyway. |
My mom's dog a weimeriener (sp?) has eaten m&m since she was a pup. she's never had any problems. i think it can poison them if they have to much. they say baker's chocalate is really bad. i would call the vet and ask. |
So I called the vet and he said she should be find if she didn't show signs of distress or behavioral change last night or this morning. He said if she would've had a reaction, she wouldn't have slept as soundly as she did, plus since she went potty, it just passed. So if there isn't an immediate reaction within the first couple of hours, they are usually fine. But just to keep her away from it in the future and to keep an eye on her today. YAY! I guess she just got her self a little treat. Her breath was all chocolaty, all night. She smelled like Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory |

So glad to hear that lil beauty is ok!!! LOL!! CoCo Wonka and the Chocolate Factory!! |
Nobella, I am so glad that Coco is okay! It is so hard to keep these little guys out of everything! Coco, You can only eat the things your mommy gives you otherwise you will get an upset tummy! :) |
It's a good thing that Coco is ok. I can't imagine that you need any other upsets in your life right now, with everything else that your family is going through. Keep you head up - we're all praying for you and your fam! |
She was soooo hyper you guys. I couldn't get her to conk out last night...I was sooo sleepy too and she kept walking on my face with her frito feet and chocolate breath. I bet in her mind she thought "I won't get in trouble because mom will be too busy worrying about me to get mad. meanwhile I get myself a treat! hehe...and water because this treat is way too sweet." Thank you Jayde for you caring words :) |
hehe my gielfwend wikes calcium mayb she will get a lil bit fatter hehe i fink i might squish her sometimes |
I had a Doxie eat a large Hersey bar, the type you use to make fudge...then at Easter she ate a chocolate bunny. Chocolate can be toxic if it is Bakers Choc..but even milk choc can cause an upset stomach. |
I am sure she will be fine with that small of amount. |
I'm just being annoyingly worried and stressed for no reason. But I will check those corners today when I get home. I'm packing for my move, so one must have fallen out of a pocket of something..hehe..little trickster |
Viactive chew I really doubt by this time that anything bad will happen. Sounds like she'll be fine. |
Awwww poor Coco! I'm so glad you took the chocolate away from her in time! Chocolate can be deadly to dogs .... but she sounds like she's ok. She's such a cutie! :D |
Oh my goodness...she should be fine though. There's probably not enough chocolate in it to make her sick. Give her a hug for us. "Frito" feet....you crack me up cause I know exactly what you're talking about! |
It's the dark chocolate that is dangerous. Milk chocolate isn't that bad especially since she didn't eat too much. If she did, I would worry. However, sometimes it does take more than a day to pass through her system so I would keep a good eye on her for the next couple of day. I'm sure nothing is going to happen but it doesn't hurt to keep a good eye on her. |
I amso glad Coco is okay. She probably could not digest it anyway. Bet she is just living up to her name. They find the smallest of things they shouldn't have and refuse their own vitamins and food..little buggers.. |
good to hear shes okay!! one of my jack russels jumped onto our counter in the kitchen and ate an entire pan of choc. brownies and he was okay!! so i figured lil miss coco probably would be! |
I imagine how scared you got when you saw Coco eating the choc chew. Im glad that she is ok and that your vet told you that since she haven't show any symptoms she will be fine. This baby gets into everything. Im glad she is ok. :) |
