New puppy help!! Please help! We got a new puppy (11 weeks old) I'm the one that wrote the other day about him being 7 pounds! Well we've always had large dogs, dobermans and he is so much different! I just wanted any new puppy advice that I might need to know! :D He's fun though! And he's fast and I think he thinks he's big b/c he jumps off the arm of the couch and I'm freaking out, but it doesn't even phase him. Also I take him out constantly and it never fails he will sneak onto the carpet and pee!! But never on the tile! Is there anything else I can do to speed up the potty training process? I keep a constant eye on him and tell him no when I see that he pees, I just stress because it's like no matter what I'm doing (cooking, watching tv, laundry) I'm also trying to keep an eye on him! Please help! |
It's just gonna take time. Sounds like you are doing the right things so just keep it up. good luck. |

Welcome to the wonderful world of yorkies! :D They are so much like toddlers; into everything, gotta watch them every minute. Like the other poster said, keep him leashed to you, or better yet, put him in an ex-pen. That way he won't be constantly under your feet.:p Good luck, it'll get easier, then you'll want another, and another, and it never stops! :animal36 :animal36 :animal36 :animal36 :animal36 |

Sounds like a true-blue yorkie to me:) Crates and x-pens are great for when you can't keep an eye on these little guys. Potty training takes time and consistency. Mine still have accidents occasionally, but it's usually my fault for not taking them out in time or because I forgot to put the pee pee pad down. |
Yep - I agree - you can't do chores and watch 'em at the same time. They're just too quick. Everytime you miss an opportunity to catch him in the act - potty training just got harder. It took us exactly two months. If we couldn't watch her every move - then she was in a crate or play pen. Two months may seem like a long time - but it worked - no more accidents. |
