can teapots be shown Just wondering if my Memphis whoos obvisouly a teapot can he shown if i ever wanted to something like that ??? |
I'm not into showing, but I doubt it since they are not within the breed standard. |
thats what i tought but im biased cause i love memphy |
Yes you can show him but if you did he would never place. He can do obedience, agility, and what ever else the AKC offers. Confirmation is what the showing is for breeds and that is what he would not place in. That is what we were told with Gracie. She weighs 9.7 and stands at least 11 in. tall. We do 4-H with Gracie. She does well with agility and we are working on obedience :). She is almost 9 months old. |
I'm a bit of a newbie to Yorkies.... I'm assuming that a "teapot" is a bigger size Yorkie. Right? |
^^ That's what I want to know too. I'm seeing it used.. is it interchangeable with "teacup"?? Makes sense though that "teapot" would denote a larger yorkie. And yeah, a teapot or a teacup for that matter won't get you far in the showing ring as it isn't a breed standard. |
If you have a yorkie over 7lbs, he will most likely get dismissed from the ring. |

Search the threads there is a teapot club in place already. |
Yes, there is a teapot club.. even my crockpot yorkie Ladybug is in it. She is a BIG girl at 16 pounds |
The Yorkie standard says Yorkies should be under 7 lbs so any thing over seven lbs would be considered a fault, just like a bad topline, bad rear, bad bite, bad front, etc. There are Yorkies that become champions that are a little over 7 lbs but the bigger ones usually have a harder time finishing. Size is not a disqualifying fault but having a too dark or too light of a coat is. Any judge can withhold a ribbon for any reason if he thinks your dog is not a good representative of the breed. By the way, I love teapots too. I have a few myself. |

Teapot is used to counter/mock "teacup" since there is no such thing as a "teacup". |
