yorkiepoos Does anyone have a yorkiepoo out there? I just want to see if anyone else has any of the problems I do? Thanks. |
What kind of problems are you having? |

Welcome to YT !!! |
problem child The problems I have they come and go. Where to begin I had her potty trained where she went to the door and went out then she started just going to the bathroom at the door. For the last two days she has been going out and just running around the yard and comint back in and going to the bathroom and this is after staying out more than 20 minutes. To get her to come back in I have to go out and chase her around the yard. She runs when I get to close to her. She is so hyper no one can stand to be around her. She's certainly not a lap dog and I can't get her to cuddle and I don't feel she is bonding with me that much. I had a poodle for 16 yrs and I just thought since she had poodle in her there wouldn't be that much difference. There's alot of other little things but I don't want to start nit picking. Let me know what you think? |
Sounds like she has more of the Yorkie personality.:) Do you crate her when she comes in? When they are still young it is better to not let them have free run of the house until they are 100% potty trained. The crate will do a lot for helping her to potty train. Go to the Training threads and there are several threads on potty training that will help. I hope I have made some sense. Good luck, and welcome to YT!:D |
All puppies get the Zoomies, they have sooooo much energy kinda like a 2 year old that has had a lot of sugar. They need exercise both mental and physical, running around yard or house is not enough they need to focus on the task at hand. Walking on a leash is good, practicing basic obedience such as sit and down work well also. It is best to take them on a good long walk to drain excess energy and then work with them on the sit or down. Find out what motivates your dog, food, toys ect. It just takes time. Good Luck |
I have a yorkiepoo ... and I agree with the other post ... sounds like your little darling has more of the yorkie personality - as does mine. He did some of the same "willful" things too - they are just incredibly smart dogs! He's two years old now and he is sooooo wonderful. He's a lap dog when I want him to snuggle - but loads of energy and personality when it's time to play. Just keep with it like the others said - it takes some time. |
Yorkies in general have alot more energy than poodles. They are a terrier! (terror?) he-he. No really if you thought you were getting a sweet little poodle and she's half yorkie, I hope you adjust. Because she's not going to change. Yorkie need time to run off so of thier energy. That's what she's doing when you let her out. Feed at a regular time and take her to potty on a lease so she stays close by to potty. After she has pottied let her run awhile. She is making you chase her to bring her in, because she doesn't want to come in. Give her time to run then offer a treat for coming to you. PM me if you have more questions. Good luck and welcome to YT! |
I crate her during the day while I'm gone. What did you mean by when you come in? She has done real good with her crate and never had an accident in it sometimes she just goes in there and lays down. I'm trying to figure out how to manage her energy. We do play alot with her toys she likes to chase them and all that. I have another question how do I get her to stop eating her poop? She doesn't just do it a little its alot? She really thinks its a joke if she sees me trying to stop her she grabs it up and runs with it. How big do yorkiepoos usually get? I thought she would be smaller but she's still growing and looking bigger everyday. Thanks for all your help. Tracy |

Tink's dad is a black poodle and her mom is a brown with black Yorkie. My poodle was just as smart as Tink but he was much more calm even as a pup. Tink is just a ticking bomb that explodes about every 10 minutes! ROFL! Keep lots of squeaking balls handy to throw for her to retrieve and lots of tiny mouthful soft toys for her to chew on. That will help some. But mostly, it is what it is. Just love her to pieces and she'll return it to you doublefold! Good luck. Potty training - patience is the word and lots of it. She'll get there, just be patient and consistent. They love consistency.:) Wlecome to YT!:D |
Thanks for the help has anyone heard of crushed pineapples helping with the poop eating. |

Where do you get a deter tablet at? |
question about yorkiepoo Has anyone ever used poyz dog calming formula. I hate to ask I know that is bad. I feel like the parents that have children that have adhd and I know its bad to give medicine for this. Does anyone have any opinions on giving your dog something to calm them down? Thanks for your help, Tracy |
Elphaba is yorkipoo...and she's extremely willful and a crazy energetic little diva. There was no question from the beginning that she got a total yorkie personality. She's also a little terd with the potty training. She was signaling me to go outside at 14 or 15 weeks, and having almost no accidents in the house. Then winter hit...now she's a little booger..who I swear pees in front of me just to tick me off. I'll be trying to catch her to take her outside, which I do just about every 90 minutes or so when I'm home..and she'll run circles around me for 10 minutes and then squat right in front of me. We also definitely have trips outside even after she asks to go out, that she won't potty. I've finally figured out its because she wants to go for a walk. Usually the third time she asks to go out in an hour I finally gave and take her on an extra walk (we normally walk 10-15 minutes 3 times a day in addition to potty trips outside). She used to sleep through the night no problem, now she always gets up in the middle of the night. She was at least always waking me up to go out. Then she went through a phase of getting off the bed, peeing on the floor, and THEN waking me up..and of course NOT going potty outside because she already went. Thankfully this week she started waking me up first thing again rather than hopping off the bed and peeing on the floor. As to burning off energy....WALK WALK WALK. And teach the dog fetch!! Elphaba is obsessed with fetch..has been since like 12 weeks. So whenever she's getting crazy and I don't want to take her on a walk..I lay on the couch and we play fetch for an hour. |
Is anyone out there I haven't heard from anyone in a while. Can anyone tell me how big yorkiepoos usually get when full grown? Mazie is 6 mths and she is already 6 pounds. That's how big her poodle mom is and her yorkie dad is 4 pounds. I didn't think she would be this big? Thanks, Tracy |
