Warning about power car windows I was walking Holly at the park today and met up with a Yorkie friend. She told me she left her Yorkie in the car with the windows up while she went to an appointment. She was parked in a garage. She was gone two hours. She came back and found one of the power windows down. Apparently her Yorkie put his paw on the switch and was able to lower the power window. Fortunately he did not jump out or get stolen, but it is certainly the last thing I would have thought about. It only takes a second for something to happen. Please make sure your Yorkie is secured in the car, whether you are with them or not. |
This happened to my daughter when she was 3, her father had the truck in his garage working on it. ANd her being daddy's little girl she had to be out there with him. The truck was not running and keys were not in. Well she was inside and went to look out window to talk daddy and her little knee went on the button and it rolled up on her head. It got her right on the bridge of her nose.....It was awful...Luckily she only came away from it with a bruise... That was the end of her hanging with daddy in the garage |
wow these yorkies really are smart.... what will they learn to do next?/ Dont leave the keys in the car either or they may learn to drive off... |

Yikes! They are really smart! Good thing he was in the car still and okay.. |
Two hours?? |
I didn't think of that, but, I know a guy at the gas station was frantic one night, as his labrador put his paw up and hit the lock button, and the keys were in the truck, so the guy was locked out |
I hope i didnt read two hours:mad: No way!!! All I can really say is " I am glad he is fine" they do know how do manuver with the buttons. Koda did it once while in the back seat (inside her car seat) And from that point on I use the child safety contril. PLEEEEEEEEEEEEASE ADVISE YOUR FRIEND NEVER TO LEAVE HIM FOR TWO HOURS! |
In the car alone and with the car turned on ..... I am not understanding this. I wouldn't leave my keys in the car EVER...never mind with my Yorkie in it. And I would never leave my two in that car alone for longer than 2 minutes. 5 minutes at the most. Did I read right.....the car must have been turned on for the windows to work...I mean that's just plain crazy.:confuse2: Tina |
im sorry but some may disagree with me on this but i will never ever leave martini in the car alone some1 has to be with her..if its somewhere where i cant take her shes staying home...i dont believe its safe or right to leave a animal in the car alone...im sorry if this offends any1 but i have strong feelings on this..:) |
She is very lucky, hopefully it will not only have a lesson learned about the power windows but to never leave her baby in the car like that. For the pp who mentioned the car being on, my windows will still function when the car is off. I've never tried it with them being closed all the way but I know I can still close them after I turn the key off. |
She's soo lucky her baby didn't get out or stolen! God was definitly watching over that baby. I personally wouldn't leave Rocky and Bella in the car alone, unless I'm getting gas because I'm right there! Rocky's done that before, he usually sits on my lap and there have been times he's pushed the window button and rolled down the window. If you guys have the safety locks on your windows I definitly recommend using them!!! |
In our car the windows will still work after the key is turned off, but once the doors open they do not work. |
