It depends on your city. Our city is very un-dog-friendly. Our mall only allows service animals, and Walmart and other stores that sell food do not allow dogs. We've gone to the bank and to the office supply store with no problem. My daughter lives in Chicago, and dogs can go nearly anywhere! (boo hoo) |
Definetly are not allowed in fast food joints. We were on our 4.5 hour ride home from picking up our new puppy on Saturday and the only place to eat where we stopped was burger king (ick!). Had her wrapped in a blanket and we got kicked out! (at least we were just about done!) |
I got kicked out of Target- Ranger was in his carrier but I had him in the cart where babies sit with the top of the carrier open so he could stick his head out and they kicked me out! Said something about food or whatever, but I was still mad. I know it's rules but I just don't see the problem if they are in their carrier. |
I think that it just depends on the store and location. I know lots of Lowe's locations don't really mind if the dogs are in the garden deparment, but the one here won't allow it. Best to just call and ask in advance if you are uncertain. That way you have peace of mind while you are there and won't be shocked or upset if asked to leave. |
I try every where and to this day never been kicked out. I use a stroller when I have both, and if its just Bella she is in her carrier. The funniest place was a Hollywood Video Store and they LOVED HER asked if i would let her out to run around andI said no of course...Im picky about peeps touching her and handling her but they were very open to her being there...Maybe I have just came across nice people and store owners but I have had very good luck so far. |

i've taken Belle to the mall, and generally stores that don't have food... which means no target or walmart, we've gotten kicked out of both, she was in a carrier...i also take her to panera bread, they let us sit outside, no probs... hope this helps Nicole |

That doesn't mean I havent snuck mine in lol:lol tears I think its so stupid because they don't have food out. I don't try to take them into a grocery store out of respect for others... but in actuality I KNOW my babies are cleaner than most kids that go in there. At least my babies aren't touching all the food then putting it back, YUCK:eek: lol |
I haven't had any trouble with BJ's Wholesale and you can bring a pet into Costo but you have to say that he or she is a companion animal. Got that inside info. from someone that works there. LOL. And, Walmart has a very lenient policy. They would rather you bring your pet in then leave it in a hot car. Now, here in NJ I have had trouble with Target. They sell food and they get all bent out of shape should you bring a dog even in a carrier into the store. All and all though I've had very little trouble. Of course I usually just carry Tia or Lilly in their carrier. Shoprite too is pretty good as long as they are in a carrier. Elaine |
Why would you get mad Why would ya'll get mad at the stores? They have to abide by the Health codes of their city/county/state. If they make food on the premises they CAN NOT allow dogs. It doesn't mean they have anything against you. I have been caught and told no at Walmart. I don't get mad, I get the rule and why they have to live by it. That is not to say I don't sneak mine in either. I mean they let kids w/ pink eye OR vomiting kids come in...lol. I have Chloe trained to get down low in her bag and when I know I have to go in a store like that I always put her in a dog purse I got from Tuesday morning that looks NOTHING like a dog purse. They don't even know...lol. She never pops her head up til we leave. Sometimes I show the cashier on the way out.... just as a haha. But I'm a little rebellious that way (it isn\'t like I take her into the Walmart McDonalds area. Anyway, all I am saying is you can\'t get mad at them for obeying the laws. If a health inspector came in and saw them allowing it.... they would shut them down fast! |
