I saw those soft sided ones too. I'd be worried though that a puppy might chew through the fabric.

They are actually not going to carry that color anymore, but she had the same exact type just in a different color and smaller size from the day we brought her home.
She sleeps in it and we use it for short trips to the vet and groomers.
She loves it and feels very secure in it! It's so easy to move around and we are having Sonja from Pocomutt make a cover for it!!
Can the Petmate one be secured by a car seatbelt?

Just wanted to ask you as well what size you use. I've seen the small ones at Petsmart and they look like they would be ok for a small puppy.

I use the wire crates, I have 3 different sizes:rolleyes: sm, med & lg:D didnt really need the big size but hubby shopped that day and it was on sale, So his thoughts were the bigger the better:eek: Now i have charlie in a big crate that could fit 3 more babies in with him:cool:

Yes it can, if you click on the link and read down it gives you the description. It has a handle on top. It's worked great for us!

We bought a small PetMate carrier for Frankin. At first he slept in it at night but then we got him a playpen so he sleeps there. Now we only use the crate for travel. If you planning on crate training him, make sure it's only big enough for him to stand up, turn around, and lay down. As a puppy, there probably isn't a crate small enough for that to possible so I would put folded up towels or a box in the back.

Also, if you're going to be gone for more than 4 hours a day, I would invest in a playpen so that your puppy has more room, and access to food and water.

I have a Richell Wooden Pet Pen. I got it at Target and it has wheels on the bottom (that lock), which makes it easy to move around. But I don't see it on the website anymore. I also saw your were inquiring about the size of the travel kennel. Cooper's is a small and it is the perfect size (he weighs 3 lbs.).

I have both kinds, the plastic one is used to go to my mom's house or my in laws, Jeter likes having a safe place when it gets to crowded. His wire crate is what he sleeps in. It was a good tool using for potty training too because it has a divider that can section off part of the crate. Hes so good with potty training at only 19 weeks of age and a total of only 4 accidents this whole time. Now for the past 2 weeks now he has slept in his pet bed instead of the crate and no accidents in the morning!! (he's a outside to potty puppy too:) )

You've got a point! My dog-owning boss did advise me that puppies do have sharp teeth :animal36

I bought a Bargain Hound X-small wire crate from Petsmart. I like it because it has a plastic removable tray on the bottom just in case. He loves it because I put blankets in there, I also put a blanket over the back half of the crate to make it more cozy.
Oh it also folds down for travelling.

So it sounds like eventually when puppies get a bit older they can use their pet bed instead of a crate to sleep in at night. I've already bought a pet bed (couldn't resist as it was so cute looking and seemed so comfy) but I wasn't sure now whether I would be able to use it or not. Hopefully I can switch to the pet bed when Rocky is able to go without pottying during the night.

I have both. We purchased a wire crate 12 yrs ago when we got our first pug. Autumn started using it when we got her but only for when we went out. When we got Blaze I purchased a good size plastic crate (got it on sale for a great price at Target too:thumbup: )for him to use when we went out. But now when I go to put Blaze in there, Autumn will run it there. So I have been putting them in there together and the seem just fine!
I think either way you will be okay, just put some blankets in it.
My wire crate has a metal bottom that can come out to wash it which is nice!

Oh, they look so cute in there together. You say you use blankets, what about the fluffy crate pads that are almost like beds. Are they ok too?
