Do rubberbands cause hair to grown in frizzy?. I been noticing recently that chanels haircolor is beginning to change.I know that its normal in yorkies since I see that they are usually born with the little mask and then the color eventually becomes even on the face.Well in the last few weeks i have noticed that the hair on the middle of her forehead is also getting kind of kinky and curly. The rest of her hair is straight and silky except for this little 1 to two inch patch. The funny thing is thats its not noticeable because its in the middle of her forehead, so the hair above her eyes and in front of her ears is straight. My question is, Is she getting that from me always putting a little bow on her.It seems to land in the exact place I tie it. I always use tiny little rubberbands that I bought from Beyond spoiled.I love them because they are easy to take off. I hope Im not ruining her hair by trying to always make her look pretty.Has anyones yorkie have this same little patch?:aimeeyork |
Wow thats a good question.. I'll bump this for ya... |
good question, is the rubber band too tight? |
How long do you leave in the rubberbands before changing them? |

The nylon bands are the best to use because they do not break the coat as easily. Banding the topknot can eventually cause damage to the hair. When you dog rubs its head or scratches it will cause the hair to break. Also, the type of coat your Yorkie has can effect how easily it breaks. A silk coat is very tough and a cottony coat breaks easier. I do not put any bands in my show male's topknot unless I am getting ready to show him. I use the soft colorful scrunchies that they sell at Wal-mart. |
curly It is curly and more cottony now that it use to be on top and just in the patch where I put it up. To the person that uses scrunchies... is that for around the house you mean? How do you get them to stay in? Chloe rubs her head as soon as you put it up and messes it up terribly... that may be the problem w/ hers. I don't know. It drives me crazy. My mom's maltese never try to take theirs down (all though they will take out some bows they don't like they leave the bands in)lol |
It is hard to keep the scrunchies in young puppies. You usually have to wait until they have a little length to their coats. I don't even try to put anything in my Yorkie's hair until they are at least 5 months old. I just try to keep it combed back out of their eyes but I know that is not easy. The only ones I let grow a topknot are those that I might plan on showing; the others I just cut their bangs. I know it is frustrating because they look so cute with a topknot but it really is hard to keep it from breaking if you band it all the time, especially with puppies. |
