Linus Bit Me!! He's never even acted remotely close to this before. I just bought these new treats at Target and gave him one. He's never been aggressive with food or treats before, but this time he was attacking his sister if she even got close...by close I mean within 10 feet. So I tried to pick him up (which I have done before when he's had like a greenie or something) and move him to somewhere else so he could eat his treat in peace and he bit me...hard! To the point where it broke skin and made me bleed! What should I do? Never give him those treats again? |
No you teach him not to be aggressive with his treats otherwise he gets time outs or spray water in their face. Coco doesn't do this but just to make sure she doesn't I've been teaching her patience. I have her lay down and I hold her favorite treats above her head. I don't let her have it until she sits calmly and takes the treat properly when told. Try that, if not the spraying of water works well to discourage bad behavior. Some would say it's mean but it's just water and it only takes a couple of times of that before they get it. |

I was looking at your avatar - THAT little angel face turned into a gang-banger over a treat ? How old is he ? ( he's super cute) :) |
See he did this on a much smaller scale last night, where he ran around the house growled at me and got aggressive when I would spray him to the point where he would attack whatever was next to him. Linus is amazing with treats and training. I tought him to stay by laying a pile of his favorite treats on the floor in front of him and not letting him go to it. It's only this treat....it's so weird. Did they put crack in it or something??? He's only 5 months old, and NEVER aggressive. He's actually really submissive when it comes to everything. |
Why thank you Villette. :we're #1: :thumbs up :happyboun If he's aggressive now, it will only get worse if not addressed. Sometimes it's frustrating and sad because you have to punish them but it's better for them anyway. If I were you, I would get a leash (not the one you use to walk him with so he doesn't associate it with punishment) and tie him up to a spot when he gets aggressive, and then if he continues, spray him. He has no where to go. The longer he is aggressive, the longer he will stay tied up with no fun. He will get it eventually. I promise, it gets easier. |
Yeah?? What were they?? Quote:

Thanks Villette! They are these treats from Target that look like little T-bone steaks! Who knew he'd go Cujo over them... |

Bryan got him and told him in a very mean voice no, stared him down to show dominance, and then put him in time-out. Do you think that there is something else we should have done? |
sounds good to me maybe he will play nice again....maybe he was having little boy puppy pms moment |
OT Vainchick where Vainchick where do your live, I think that I met a friend of yours yesterday. A neighbor of mine was talking about a friend of hers that had a yorkie, named Coco. Is it you? Also those T-bones did not faze my boys, they did not like them at all. But they are spoiled rotten and like people stuff best. |
