Scared of so much Ok everyone Sam is totally back to normal and when i say totally i mean 100% in every way he is humping Max ever chance he gets and he is back to acting like his scared of everything all the time and shaking over everything he gets excited he shakes he gets scared he shakes i mean over everything he will just be sitting there and i get the treats out and he gets excited and starts shaking:( He has finally gotten over the noise of the furnace and just looks at it and even barks at it sometimes and he has also gotten past the noise of the washer and drier but he still has the shyness thing going on and not really wanting to be held and loved on he loves his head rubbed but that is about it unless he is tired and then he will let you rub his belly but he is not really affectionate with anyone not like he was this past week is there anything that i can do  And just so you all know this is how he was acting before he got hurt so it isn't from the accident i also have a really hard time brushing him he keeps trying to get away from me when he is being brushed :( but that i can deal with and get him used to my main concern is how do i get him to be more loving and affectionate? and not act so scared all the time? |

so glad he is back to 100% :D miss buffey is shaker too ... i just think she has a more shy personality ... we took her for a walk this weekend (her first one :D ) and she did great until she started hearing cars ... she started shaking so bad and refused to walk any more so i picked her up and carried her home :) bentley is not scared of anything and never shakes lol ... i just think it is a personality thing? maybe repeated exposure over time to whatever scares them or makes them shake (with you right by their side so they know they are okay and safe) will help a lot too |
He's still adjusting. It may just be 'his' personality. I hope in time he will cuddle with you again. |

my yorkie was scared of EVERYTHING as a pup. the best thing you can do is introduce him to as many new situations as possible, and take the lead by being confident and calm yourself. try not to comfort him when he's shaking (as hard as it may be) because when you comfort him while he's shaking, you're essentially reinforcing the undesirable behavior with affection. if you play it cool, he'll eventually come around. |
I have a 10 yr. old that shakes. She's a puppymill doggie and is mentally challenged. My husband always says he feels sorry for her---what must it feel like to always be so afraid? My 11 yr. old came from a nasty home situation and after 9 yrs. still doesn't want to be held unless I force her. On some threads there has been talk of seeing a behavioralist or giving obedience training. Have no idea whether these techniques work. Just things I've heard of. My Jewels is a shaker and she turned into a real cudler. Just cuddle Sam alot and give him some more time. |

First i want to say sorry here i start a post asking for advice then i disapear but i have been in court most of the day (child custody not for the puppy mill) then the rest has been run run run  Oh i am so sorry that is so sad i feel for those little babies and i think you are doing a great thing by showing them the love that they so desperately need  As for Sam he came from a great loving place so no worries there because he was showered with all the love possible :) He has finally gotten past the big noises like the furnace air return and the washer and dryer and now acts as if noise doesn't bother him well he barks at noises now lol. He does like to be held sometimes but only if he is the one that asks you to hold him if he doesn't and you try to hold him you can forget it he will have no part of it. We he wants to he can be a big cuddler but only when he wants to. Part of me was wondering if maybe he is just cold? It just bothers me to see him shake i feel so helpless and want to cry because i don't know if he is still just adjusting or if he is cold or if he is just a nervous nanny. |
Thanks everyone for the advice it is nice to know that others have been through this and i am not alone ;) |
I just wanted to let everyone know that hubby and i went out last night and found Sam a shirt and a sweater that fits him we put the sweater on him and within 20 minutes he was a changed yorkie he stopped shaking and started running around playing and loving on everyone all you have to do is say his name and he will run to you and give you kisses it is so sweet :D i feel like a total idiot thinking this whole entire time that he was scared and maybe he was in the beginning but the last part has been only because he is cold i feel so bad about not knowing but so good now that it is taken care of and he is acting right at home with all of us :) |
