Oldest Living Yorkie? What's the oldest living Yorkie you know or knew of? I had a friend in college who had two Yorkies, and her Yorkies lived to the ripe old age of 21, and the other 18. I really hope we're as lucky as she is! |
Wow thats pretty good i hope we are a lucky also right now my foster is 13 but i hope he can live that long. |
My friend had yorkies when she was young and one lived to be 19. |
Wow, that's awesome. I hope our babies live to that age in good health!! :p |
My mom's best friend had a Yorkie, Cognac was her name :) She lived til she was 19!! I hope all our babies live to be that old and then some!!! |
Wow... thats great! I hope all ours out live us! |
Wow that yorkie really lived a long life. I thought the average life span was 13 years. |
That is so wonderful to hear! Wow 21 years! Wouldn't that be wonderful!! My gosh mine would be tucking me in at night, lol! |
Now that I think about it, I wonder if that girl was lying to me to be my friend or something. No one else here has heard of a Yorkie living to 21, right? It's amazing. And her second one to 18??? That is unheard of. What are the chances of two Yorkies living that long. She was probably lying, unless someone here has heard somethign similar? |
thats funny tucking you in at night :D since have joined this rescue and family members turn dogs in after someone passes i made my kids promise that if my dogs out live me they will take of them |
age My oldest lived to be 17, I know one named Pixie who was 19..saw her papers. |
I hope Tiny Baci is just as lucky so he will be around when I have grand kids LOL |
My first Yorkie named Maļa was 18 years old when she died . |
Guess she's not such a good friend now, is she? I think anything over 15 years is great, of course not long enough, but still very long... I hadn't heard anything over 15 really until this thread! |
Little Daisy My mother's Yorkie, Daisy, lived to be 17 years old! I practically grew up with her! :) |
old Chi Tim Arnette (Kamegko Yorks NC) has a Chi on their web site who died at 27...that blew my mind.. |
20 and 21 My ex-grandmother-in-law had two yorkies (little ones) and they lived to be 20 and 21. I have never seen dogs treated as well as she did her babies. And they were very active up until the end. I hope that I am that lucky. Morbid subject, but I am 56 and I have made arrangements in my will (no money, cept insurance) and have named a "guardian" for my babies and set up an amount of mine to be put into trust for their care if something happens to me. I do not want my boys to end up in a rescue or shelter. I discussed it with the person that I wanted as a guardian and she agreed and we put it in writing and I added it to my will. I consider them as my children and I wanted to make sure that they were taken care of. |
He wasn't a yorkie but before we got our yorkie in Jan 09 we had a terrier mix that lived 23 years. He was born in Oct 1985 and died in oct 2008. I've never been as sad as i was that day |
I know of two that lived to be 19, one belonged to a friend and he out lived two owners. The second was a well known Champion over here. I went to pick a puppy from his breeder and he was there. Spent most of his day asleep in his basket, only waking to eat or awners a call of nature. He did lift his head breifly while we were there but went back to sleep almost immidiatly. |
I wonder if there is a correlation between weight & longevity? |
Hello. I am new here to the forum and stumbled across it because I was looking for information on the "oldest living yorkie." I am "triple" checking any sources I can find and diggin up his papers, but if all is correct, he turns 20 this year. Does anyone have information on this topic. He eats well, sleeps well, does his natural duties well - but is just having Dog-Hieimers and arthritis. (He is on medicam) Can anyone give me advice on how to look, claim, declare and so on if this is indeed the case and he is truely the oldest living yorkie? I'd be embarassed if I somehow was wrong, but am pretty sure I'm correct - hence the help I need. Thanks so much! Gary Bacchetti Buffalo, NY |
Have you tried googling it?:D Sorry I'm not much help. I saw this old thread and wondered what brought it back up and started reading it again.:) |
