wont pee outside I have a 2 year old gril who refuses to go to the bathroom outside. We could be out for hours and she will hold it until i bring her back inthe house. I have tried a pee post, putting the pad on the grass and long walks but nothing has helped. I do I get her to pee outside? |
Very gradually move the pee pad closer to the door-it may takes days or weeks. Once your baby is peeing successfully in one new spot you can move it closer to the door. After a while you can put it to just outside the door, then on to the grass or sidewalk or what ever your ultimate pee spot will be. Then begin cutting the pad so it is smaller and smaller until there is no pad. Remember to reward all peeing on the pad with treats. This is what worked for our baby and he was 100% trained by 8 months. It took 6-7 weeks to transition from pee pads indoors to peeing on the grass. Good luck. |
When I bought my baby, the store recomended a liquid that was supposed to give off the smell of urine to the dog and they knew to pee there... I put this on the pads and she started peeing on it great. Then she refused to pee outside when we started going out so i took the bottle with me on a walk and dripped some in a grassy spot.... I think eventually she got the idea. Im not sure what it is or wht its called... but im sure a pet store would know. |
Bring the pee pad or anything with their sent on it...(A paper towel with her urine or poo on it from an accident) to where you want her to go...Keep her on a SHORT leash, don't let her sniif EVERY WHERE or you will be out side for a LONG TIME...Sniffing to a dog is like a party! Just keep the leash short, and tell her to potty. Make this your potty area... once they know it's potty time and they are at the potty area they will just go right away. Chewy has an enclosed potty area, once he sniffed it, he was done with sniffing and now he goes within 5 minute every time. (Shorter if he doesn't need to poop. Sadie also has an enclosed potty area and she goes right away too....(She is 4 months) She still has accidents but if you take her potty she knows what to do right away!;) |
