Yorkie + Baby My wife and I just brought home our newborn baby! ::) Anyhoo We have a 1 year old little yorkie named Baxter. We let him sniff the baby, and made sure to pay extra attention to him so he didnt feel left out. Everytime the baby gets attention, Baxter gets attention as well, and most of the time a good boy treat as well. Well, the first time the baby cried, Baxter started barking and then crying, almost as though he was afraid of the baby. When the baby stopped crying and calmed down, Baxter calmed down too and sniffed the baby and licked its forehead. If anyone has any tips on how to properly introduce babies and yorkies, it would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully we can get him to relax while the baby is crying. TY Much Baxter's Dad |
shanatink just had a baby about a month ago and she has a boxer, a chihuahua, and a yorkie. You should PM her |
Sounds like your doing great there. Your yorkie might be crying at first because the baby's cry startled him. When my sil had my niece when Olivia would cry punkin did the same the first few times. Then when Olivia would cry when she got used to what was going on she would go to Cee and softly woof at her to get her attention and walk back to where Olivia was situated. |
First of all...welcome to yt. Second..congrats on your new baby. Good luck with the introductions. I'm sure they will become great friends. |
