Suggestions for puppy obedience classes in NYC I called our local Petco to sign up Joey for obedience classes, but unfortunately they start tonight and he doesn't get his booster / rabies shots until tomorrow. So, now I need to look elsewhere in Manhattan for recommended classes. Can anyone suggest a good place that is reasonable in price? Thanks! |
I've seen lots of postings for puppy classes on craigslist.org. They are pretty expensive though. It's very hard for me to find places in Manhattan that gives reasonable prices. |
story of my life in Manhattan (everything is expensive). That is why I tried PEtco, because it is close by and not expensive. But the times of the classes don't work out :( |
What about Petsmart? That is where we are going..and if the Petco classes are anything like Petsmarts the first one is parents only so that may give you time to get the rabies..Maximsu "first" day will be on Sunday but we went last week (my bf and I) and the trainer seemed very knowledgeable!!! I am in staten island BUT I believe LOVEMYBABY is in Manhattan and she signed up for Petsmarts there!! |
Actually, I signed Chicle up with dingogirldoggie training .. my sister found her on Craigslist.. the fee for a six week training class is $275 $75 dollar discount for adopted puppies and $25 discount for financial hardship... ive seen places that charge $300... am i paying too much?? lol and its the clicker method and the first class Chicle picked up some things, and continue doing the exercises at home so far so good  |
Ooops...sorry!!!, I pay 99 for 8 weeks and they also do the clicker class for 8 weeks..but I was willing to pay more but the turds never called me back :( ...lol |
wow ... I feel like a loser now .. crap ... 99 for 8 weeks!!! CRAPPPPPPP OH WELL.... :( |
If you like her...then it is worth it!! |
http://www.andreaarden.com/ Andrea Arden is a published dog trainer with a regular column. I train in westchester at the Porchester dog Obedience club. Great place with a long history in dog training - about an hour ourside of NYC. A friend of mine is a top dog trainer in New York although she generally does TV work. I know she has private students. I could ask her if you like as well. In Manhattan, you have a lot of options. |
