What Do You Think?? I Have Three Pups 5mths Old. I Want To Neuter And Spay By 6mths For The Boys And Maybe A Little Later For The Girl. They Are Still Waiting For Their Forever Homes But I Wanted To Do This If They Are Not In A New Homes In A Month So They Won't Lift Their Legs To Pee. They Do Not Have Papers, With That Said Do You Think New Perspective Owners Will Have A Problem With The Neuter As They Should Be Pet Only. Will It Hurt My Chances Of Adopting Them Out? Not That I Am In Any Hurry Anyhow I Might Just Keep Them All.:) |
I dont think it will matter if they are going to be pet only. If it were me I would think it would be great that it was done |
I personally think it's a good thing. Then the new owners can't haphazardly breed with them. I wouldn't have minded if my breeders had neutered mine. I had them done as soon as they were old enough. Sheilagh. |
I agree with the others. I would have loved to have not gone through the stress of spaying Lucy... |
If I was looking for a pet only, I think it would be great that the dog was either spayed/neutered. Would be one less thing for me to worry about. Good luck! |
Remember that females go into heat as early as nine months. |
Thank you for all the advice I will proceed ahead then if they are not in new homes by then. |
Wow, I would have loved it if mine would have already been spayed/neutered. |
I would love it if my puppy was spayed before I got her. It is so stressful for me when I have to take them in for surgery. |
That would have been awesome if mine were already done when i got them i think that would be a great thing to do :) |
Both Zada and Azrael were spayed by the breeder before I got them. She never lets a puppy go without a spay or neuter unless it's show quality and goes to a show home. Raziel is 5 months old right now and will be spayed before she hits 6 months, as it's in the contract. I would really advise spaying the female by the time she's 6 months. You don't want her to start a heat cycle before she's spayed. The neutering can be done by 8 months, but neutering does not stop a male dog from lifting his leg or marking. I had a little male once that was neutered by 8 months and never marked till he was 5 years old. It's just instinct. |
I think it is very responsible for you to have them spayed and neutered before they go to their new homes. I would only buy from a breeder that required their pet pups to be spayed/neutered and sold on limited registration. I'd love to buy a pup that had already been spayed/neutered...one less thing to worry about after bringing the pup home. My youngest persian cat was spayed before i was allowed to bring her home as a kitten...I was very happy that was already done and taken care of. |
