Thanks for posting! |
 Great post! I was wondering just yesterday what others do with their furbutts during tornado watches/warnings. We have no safe room or shelter we have to go 7 miles into town to take cover and I just can't bear the thought of leaving my babies. We had some really nasty weather yesterday. The shelter didn't say anything about me bringing them so I hope it's never an issue. :p |
after hurricane katrina, it killed me to watch tv and see all the pets roaming around in the flood waters. Then, to find out that they couldn't be evacuated on the buses with their pets, the pets had to stay behind. that furiates me. I think it was so amazing to see so many people put their lives at risk to stay in new orleans (and other areas affected) with their pets. the people after the storm who rescused pet are also lifesavers. i can imagine for some people that is a tough decision. making a life or death call. either stay and weather the storm with your babies, or hope for the best and leave. i just wish it didn't have to be that way. |
A couple years ago I bought backpacks from an army/navy store for my family. My son and DIL both have one, I have one, my son who lives with me has one and I have a separate one for my babies. They are all packed and ready to go in case of emergency. I did this after seeing what happened with Katrina. After reading this post, I also found the pet rescue stickers at WalMart and got them, too. I can't stand the thought of not being prepared when seconds count. Thanks so much for starting this thread. It gives everyone something to think about. |
