I Know exactly how you feel.... We have a fantastic, very popular dog walk near us...my Staffy loves it down there, dogs are supposed to be under control at all times but of course, most owners let them run riot. My last yorkie was attacked at least 3 times down there, and she was a fair bit bigger than my tiny Pixie, I would love to take her there more often but i'm so nervous, i literally have to have eyes in the back of my head while walking there, I certainly would not let her off the leash there, i would need to be able to get to her fast if an aggressive dog came along. |
We had the best time at crb's house today! I took Lacy & Rylie over there to play with Cynthia's 5 yorkies and the yorkie she is dog sitting this weekend, and Layla's mom brought Layla over...so we had 9 yorkies total. I think they all had fun playing. Lacy walked around peeing everywhere for a while (yes, she marks  ) and she and the others were barking at the big dogs next door. Then she started noticing squirrels! From that point on she just ran and ran around the yard...barking...and running. She ran around for at least 30 minutes straight!! I finally made her go inside and rest for a bit. But then we let them back out and she ran and ran some more. Poor girl is exhausted now...passed out. She loved it!! Rylie just walked around. Hopefully we can have more yorkie playdates!!! |

I have never dared let any of my yorkies off lead through the years. One used to be Ok but if she fancied it she would be off. Trouble is if a car back fired mine would get scared and run. Much too precious to risk..:animal36 :animal36 |
Definately not worth the risk. it is not safe to keep small and large dogs together. At least if a small dog attacks her your chances are much greater of breaking them apart b4 they do real damage than with a big dog. Stake the place out and see when its least busy and take them then |
Oh, I wish I would have read this thread earlier. Cujo would have loved a play date! Being an only child, he needs some more social time. Well, he does enjoy playing with the cat, but I think he needs some more doggie friends. I've taken Cujo to the dog park a couple of times and watched him like a hawk the whole time. He's funny, though. He had nothing to do with any of the other dogs, and instead went around from owner to owner, visiting. The only time he would interact with the dogs is if another dog came up to me. Then, he would hightail it over to me, barking and ready to attack. |
