Should I Tip the Groomer? My baby is going to the groomer for the first time tomorrow. Is it customary to tip the groomer? (The groomer is in a shop, not a mobile groomer.) Thanks for your input. |
i always tip my groomer he does a great job so i always give him $5 tip...he knows how i want her hair cut without even telling him..and he treats her great...even if we go there to shop he plays with her |
If the groomer is an employee then I would give a tip. If the groomer is the shop owner, no I don't tip. |
yes, tip the groomer, its just like you going and getting your hair cut. you should tip them... its well appreciated.. |
I tip the groomer. |
I tip my groomer as well even she is a shop owner. She does an amazing job and she gives me discount if I only need trim or something. (I go there sometime just to trim her butt hair!!) |
I always tip my groomer. She has been w/me for 10 yrs and has never raised my price! |
I tip them also, but, now if you're not satisfied, then I wouldn't.. |
Only tip if satisfied:) |
Ive always went with the fact that you are paying them to begin with so what is the point of tips. im paying 50 bucks to groom so i see no reason why i should pay more money just because it looks good because its supposed to look good. But then again, im a guy and our brains all are messed up. |
I always tip and she is the owner and the only person there. My hairdresser gets a tip and I figure it is the same thing. The first time I tipped my new groomer she was surprised and asked what the extra was for. It kinda made me wonder if I was wrong to do it even though she was thankful. |

LOL:p Yes, if I used a groomer for Ellie I would tip if I was satisfied. |
I go to a small shop, 2 girls who run/own it. They are great, super friendly with Alphy and was wonderful with Abby. Being that they are small the aren't taking anymore new clients and always fit me in whenever I call even though they are a few weeks out and I'm guessing I get great service and extra care because I do tip them and well. :) I'm always very pleased with how Alphy comes out and I think it's appropriate to show appreciation and again, if you treat them well, they will treat you well. |
I tip my groomer $5 each dog. If I have extra money, I tip extra then. They are WONDERFUL with my girls and treat them like the babies that they are, and the one lady that runs the place always feeds them chicken and rice for lunch. She knows that they're small and get hungry quickly, and she brings extra for them when she knows they're coming, since she brings her Maltese to work and brings her lunch. You just can't BUY that kind of attention and love. I like to show my appreciation Yes, you're paying for a service, however groomers don't make a whole lot of money, so tips help them out, and it's only a few bucks to me;) For the holidays, I normally tip $20 per dog. |
i always tip mine since i want to keep her happy! she does a good job and she's soo good with my girls. I tip her 20% of the service..really it's like us getting a hair cut..you want to be on their good side.;) |

Although, I would rather NOT tip, I look at it this way, we tip for our hair, and we tip when we go out to eat(which to me is really wrong, as they should have to pay the waitresses more to begin with, it shouldn't be up to the customers to have to pay for an expensive meal and then the rest of the waitresses wages..Actually, you're supposed to tip at hotels also, if your room is nice and clean.. |
I look at it from the angle what if it were me? There was something out around the holidays about who you should tip and what was appropriate, although I know not everyone agrees with that. Fact is there are just some jobs that that's how it is and what if it was me on that end of it. I've been there also so I tend to be a bit generous with tipping. Waitresses i think usually give part of their tips to the bus boy/girl and hair dressers to the shampoo girl or staff that does the cleaning up (at places like Gene Juarez) etc. For me personally when there are people that provide me a service and go out of their way for me then I like to show appreciation when deserved as is customary and when appropriate. Obviously I don't tip my attorney, but I would send a card if warranted and that kind of thing. :) |
