Hello from Oregon I need some help. Our Tater Baby is having a problem with his poopy sticking to his button hole. Last night he had to go potty and couldn't because his rear was closed off:eek: . We did however, clean him up and babied him all night. Today he seamed to be much better playing and running etc.. But... it happened again a few minutes ago. He is 12 weeks. Is this common for Yorkie puppies? Do we need to change his diet? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!:aimeeyork |
sometimes you have to trim the fur on their bottom, welcome to YT. |

I always keep Murfee's little bottom cut really close. |
Oh and welcome to yt. So glad you joined us. |
Another question Tater Baby can go potty but after he is finished he looks like he has hemeroids. it is very soft and sticky. He cries for a few seconds as we're cleaning him and then he seems fine...until he goes again. Then he looks real swollen. Would appling some preperation H help by any chance speed up the healing?:) |
I think I would take him to the vet. That doesn't sound normal. |
Welcome to YT. I also think you should take Tater Baby to the vet to be check out. :animal-pa |
Welcome to YT and I would also recommend taking him to the vet. He shouldn't cry when he goes potty, and the vet will have the proper medication for his "tooshy". Warmly, Deborah |
it sounds to me like his anal glands may need to be expressed -- definitely get him to the vet. Trust me you don't want his anal gland to burst -- been there Welcome to YT -- keep us updated & when everything is better we would love to see pix |
I don't think Prep H will hurt him. If I were you, when his bottom gets red from poop being on there I'd apply antibiotic ointment, it will soothe it and speed the healing process. Be sure his diet is consistent. You'll have to stay on top of it for now until things are regular. Taking him to the vet is a good idea, they have a medical wash that would help, I had to take mine long ago(we were already there actually) and they gave me some. Susan |
I would just take him to the vet and have a stool sample to make sure everything is okay! Welcome on YT! |
don't really have any good advice..welcome to yt tho:D |
Welcome to YorkieTalk! :aimeeyork :) Buddy had that problem when he was young. I just took a few things out of his diet (the baby carrots) and made sure he drank a lot of water, even though it meant letting him jump in the tub while I was showering to drink the running water from the faucet...lol. My mom also cut his hair extremely short on his backside to make sure the hair was catching the poop. |
:welcome4: ... to YT. Our little Brady has a problem now and then with his bowels and our vet suggested giving him a some Pumpkin ( not pumpkin pie filling ) and that has helped him tremendously and he no longer has a problem. We also shave the hair down there, so that it doesn't stick and get clogged up. Hope your little guy feels better soon. |
