A safety reminder... We've gone to great expense and effort to totally puppy proof our front deck for our babies so we can let them out safely and not have to worry about them escaping under a deck rail or through the spindles or something...there are locking gates at the steps and opening to the front yard and added wood under the rails so they can't get underneath. We never let them out alone but we do sit out there with our babies in nice weather and it has to be safe. Anyway, just a few minutes ago my husband looked out the front window and said 'There's something big and black in our front yard...it just jumped over the deck rail from inside our deck'. I thought he was seeing things so he turned on the front light and there was a huge black lab standing there...he had just been on our deck! If I had opened the door and let my babies out before me he might have gotten one of them. I never thought I'd have to check out my totally enclosed deck before letting them out but I guess from now on I'll have to. |

people need to abide by leash laws! I get so sick of people letting their dogs roam off leash  |

that really angers me..you shouldn't have to worry about other dogs on your property like that! I had to change my route in my neighborhood when walking Lily because of a similiar situation. |

poop in yard I live right by a walking trail. People walk a hundred dogs a day by my house. Most on leash (99.9%) BUT I go to get in my car and about 1/4 of the time I step in giant dog poop! They walk into my yard and they don't scoop up their giant dog's poop. My little one could get into it. It is so gross! |

Stray, unatteded animals equals irresponsible pet owners that should not be allowed to have them. I am so tired of stepping in poop in my yard. We had some concrete poured out front so we can put in a pergalo, those poor guys stepped in it. Yesterday we had some guys come to create a network for our computers and connect a new internet service...one of the tracked poop onside. Ugh! If I see anyone at all letting their dog poop in my yard, I will demand they pick it up right then and there or I will follow them home and then call the police. That is just beyond disgusting. As far as my baby....I can't walk her in my neighborhood because there are too many large dogs running loose and our animal control is useless. Just like they don't exist at all. Once I took her with me to pick up the mail and some kids were yelling "Watch OUT!!"....I looked behind me and there was one almost up on us and I pulled Sassy up very quickly by her harness. It is pretty scary. Especially the two rotties that live on my block. HUGE!! I am terrified of them. So Sassy only gets to go in our backyard and only with me attending her. |

We always go out with our babies but that dog scared me last night. The last time I let them out before bed I had to go out first and check the deck to make sure he wasn't there again. The next time I see that dog I'm going to call him in...I'm not taking the chance of him hurting (or much worse!) one of my dogs. |

i let lexi out on my deck all the time, but before i do, i check to see if the gate is closed... always.. one day my b/f forgot to close the gate and he let lexi out and when i went to check on her, she was still there, thank god she was smart enough not to leave the premises. but if she would of seen another animal, she would of been gone.. well i gave it to my b/f that day and i see for now on, he looks to see if the gate is closed be very careful. things happen in a second and sometimes its too late.. |

It makes me mad when people let their dogs roam around. We have alot of that in our neighborhood so we are always guard. I have a fenced in front and back yard though so that helps. We run into problems on walks |

Oh your story reminds me of one! Our neighbors behind us had their younger daughter, her husband and their small child living with them. The hubby brought his dog to live there too and was kept in the backyard. Well, I could hear this dog bark but never saw it. Until one day, I had let Maggie out (our elderly cocker spaniel) and when I went to let her in, I see a PIT BULL out back with her. Now, I know they aren't always bad, but I'm SCARED of big dogs so YES this one terrified me. He was just funny though because he was wagging his tail and licking her face waiting to come in, too. I let her in and told him 'STAY' and went to grab my neighbors. He came over, opened our side gate and just let him out without a leash! The dog ran across the street where a woman was walking with her toddler on a her little bike. If it had been me, I'm sorry I would have kicked that dog, but she remained calm. The pit bull just licked her daughter's face, he called for him and took him home. I watched out my back window and the way the dog got in my yard was by jumping, finding a footing on the fence and climbing over! He kept trying it and then at one point, looked up saw the tree branch and leaped onto that before he fell back into their yard. Luckily, they figured out he needed more room to roam and he was taken to the hubby's parents house. OH I was sooooo upset and Maggie couldn't even run from him if she wanted to! I always peek out now just in case. So, sorry it's long but I totally understand that frustration! |

Ugh! This is why I'm sick of living in a subdivision! |

Living in the country is NO better....Most people just let their aniamals roam. When you confront a neighbor about their dog they just yell and scream that is why I live in the country! All three of ours go out on leashes everytime they need to potty. NO MATTER what the weather, leashes, I do not trust the neighbors dogs. |
