Weird Question Finnigen was nuetered 06/24/05, he was 6 months at the time. Lately he has been humping his stuffed rottweiler, which I know can be common even after being nuetered. I think it's a dominance issue and not a hormone issue. But today he had a little red rocket. Is this normal after being nuetered and if there's no testosterone in him how is this possible? I know this is a little too much information but it really surprised me... it was the first time I've ever seen it, so hopefullly someone won't be too shy to reply! thanks Shar-Lee & Finnigen |
ROFL!!! red rocket!!! i like that, thats funny.. LoL! :lol tears :lol tears |
I would have hoped he wouldn't be doing it sooooo much after being neutered also. If he is doing it, it must be normal. |
some would say 6 months was too old that "habits" would have already been forming...good luck |
umm, can someone tell me what a little red rocket is. I have an idea but this is just too funny to be true. |
Shar-Lee, lots of yorkies are neutered around 6 months of age so that any stubborn baby teeth that haven't come out can be pulled at that time. Some dogs will hump all their life. Some never do. If it bothers you just remove his little stuffed rottie and see if he finds a replacement. Hey if you were a yorkie and could be dominant over a rottie what would you do??? lol! Go get em you fiesty lil guy! |
Both neutered around 6 months and they still hump the stuffed yorkie with red rockets galore. Perfectly normal, not often but often enough to give me the giggles. |
I have no idea if this is normal, but it sure did make me giggle! Rocky is almost 7 months old and his "R R" is showing up every morning! Yuck! |
i got toby neutered early (4 months i think) and he has only shown inclination to hump the head of my brothers black lab ........... i have NEVER seen a RR on toby, maybe i got it done early enough  (oh and the humping of the head thing happens occasionally........ not too often.....) |
I wondered the same thing about red rockets coming out after neutering. Hmm... Its so gross. Stewie humps a Build-a-Bear Grizzly that my ex boyfriend got me ;) |

We asked around and no vet in town would neuter any dog under 10lbs before 6 months of age. We got Sully neutered at 6 mo. and 2 weeks old. Today, for the 1st time, he humped his stuffed duck......but that's b/c I was playing rough with him and tugging on it and throwing it. I think it's a dominance thing, but gosh before today I've NEVER seen him do that, haha! My husband and I laughed so hard! |

I waited until Cookie was about 10 months old because he was barely 3lbs. His weight fluctuates between 2.8- 3 lbs . So I was very worried because of his size. It's still early for all your dog's hormones to be gone. The vet told me that it takes weeks up to a few months until all the hormones leave his system. Cookie doesnt hump anymore,I have seen his disgusting little red rocket too lol. His habit of "marking his territory" has completely stopped . He no longer lifts his leg at all. Every dog is different ,some keep their old habits and some don't. Everyone from my friends and family used to tell me that Cookie was too old to stop his habits. Well the neutering worked for him! Give it some time... Genie |
That is so wierd!! Max never humped nor did I ever see his red rocket until 2 days after neutering, he was a maniac and the red rocket was out!! Nasty! I dont know why it happened, but that is a coincidence!! Its been about 3 weeks now and the testosterone must be all the way out of his system, no more humping and no more red rocket  LOL!!! |
