I can't bring Alphy to work anymore.. The attorney down the hall complained about him because she's highly allergic to dogs. (She saw me get off the elevator with him last Friday. He's been here the past 2 weeks). In reality she is ALWAYS sick and sniffling and is totally obnoxious in general. Building management came by and told us we can't bring dogs anymore. I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm nervous about leaving him alone, especially since we lost Abby. She was his companion and big girl love. He's never been alone or an only dog. The couple times I've left him a few hours he is really wound up when I get back like anxiety. I think he'll bark and I live in an apartment. Any ideas? (getting another one is not an option at this point) |
Doesn't that just figure someone would ruin your fun?! Probably just someone with control issues :( |
I'm sorry :( |
What a shame. Is it possible that you could go home for lunch? That would break the day up for both of you. |

I only get a half hour lunch. Takes that long, maybe little longer to get there and back. It would be like a tease to just pop in, pet him and dash out. With my job, also, I don't eat at the same time every day and a lot of the time is spent working through lunch. Might have to give it a shot though. |
boooo on her! |
Bianca did okay when i left her at home, but chewed alot. Since I have Gino now, they both do great! No chewing, and they are great companions and playmates. I live in an apt and as much as I know they bark when they hear noises outside...I have had no complaints. How bout a friend for Alphy? |
there is always some1 who ruins it for the rest of us..im sorry ur even lucky u were able to bring the baby to work...i cant and i wish everyday i could..u can get a petcam |
what about doggy daycare....he won't be all alone during the day when you are at work |
Is there anyone who can stop by your apartment for a little bit to take him out and play with him for a few minutes during the day? I'd also try leaving the radio or TV on while you're gone. |
That sucks... But, leaving them at home isnt as bad has we think sometimes. Try leaving the TV or radio on for him so he wont feel lonely...lots of toys, especially interactive toys. Also, been seeing more follks using the web cams to monitor their pups while they're away... maybe that's an option :) |
It seems there is always someone around who doesn't like animals. I feel such pity for people like that. They'll never know the unconditional love our babies give to us. Of course, that doesn't help your situation, and I feel terrible for you. The ideal would be what is not an option for you right now, to get another baby. I'm not really sure if this actually works, but I've been told when we leave our babies alone, especially "only" babies to turn on the radio or TV. Makes them think there's someone around. Good luck and I hope everything works out. |
I don't know what your situation is regarding work. If you have a good relationship with the owner of your business you might want to ask them to check the lease. If there is a no pet clause than you are out of luck but if there is not and the owner is willing to go to bat for you it is worth a shot. Hundreds of people live in apartment buildings some allergic some not. I do not see how being allergic to dogs has anything to do with you not being able to bring the dog to work with you anymore. More and more places are allowing dogs these days it is worth a shot to check out. Good Luck |
Did you see the thread about petcam? You can watch while you are work to see how he is adjusting. Boo Evil Attorney down the hall!!! |

Any chance that you could extend your lunch hour to 45mins. 15 minutes really can make a difference. Perhaps you could go in 15mins earlier or work 15mins later. I did it all when Buddy was a puppy. My job allowed me to move time around as long as I put in my 7hrs each day. Hope that will help you. |
