you are a saint for caring for this child. Did you know I have two disabled children? My older son is severely retarded. My younger son (31)is adopted and is learning disabled. i knew it when we adopted him. he is the one that I worry about. he knows just enough to get into things he shouldn't. | No, I didn't know this...I actually did home health care for a man(he was 89) from last January through April..they gave him 3 mos. to live..he was out mowing one day, and the next day he couldn't even stand up..anyway, can't remember what exactly was wrong with him..but, he was in a wheelchair, then when I started he was using a walker more, by the time I was done with the job(hospice was also coming in once a week), he was riding his stationary bike, and had gone from a walker to a cane and then to walking on his own..I loved this man as if he were a father to me..by the time I got done with him, he was in better shape than I was..Unfortunately, i will never be able to help this child as I helped the man(whom just celebrated his 90th b-day last May)..this little boy was under water for 10 minutes, and has no use of his fingers or his legs..but, he can smile and laugh, and seeing him do that brings a smile to my face...I'm just not sure how long I will be able to take care of him, as lifting 80 some pounds I'm sure is going to start getting the best of my back.. |
