so i found this yorkie for 575.............
 

I went to go see him, hes 11 weeks old. Owner said has had his shots, i call and want to go see him. shes leaving so i meet her brother in a parking lot:eek: and ask do you have the vet records? no my sister might have them but shes at work, ok so i call later. no my mom might have them, so ok can i see the parents. well my mom doesnt get home till later about 8? i even asked the brother when we met, danced around it. he was cute but way too many red flags there

Yikes! Your right way to many red flags. I'm certain they were hiding something, other wise why the parking lot in the first place

i thought he was going to bring me back to the house but nope !:thumbdown he was cute and had the right colors but just wanted the vet records that was it

I hope I'm wrong and they're just people with poor judgement, but it just makes me fear that the yorkie they were trying to sell is one that is missing from some poor family. Stolen (or found and not returned) yorkies are often sold. :( :( :(

This does not sound good at all....and 575 for a Yorkie is cheap, there has to be something wrong........If It were me I would walk the other way.

you guys are really harsh and judgmental 575 is cheap and probably no papers but unhealthy,stolen,etc...... and really if you are paying that cheap of a price don't expect papers but you should expect health.if they are uncomfortable I would ask for a vet # to check on health and atleast get a pic with the parents maybe some thing with your name.just don't jump the gun because at that price you (KNOW ITS NOT A SHOW BREEDER SELLING IT)

I know a few people that do not want people to come to their home because of the weirdos out there do you remember the people that got robbed when them let potential buyers come to their home.

my FRIEND BOUGHT A YORKIE FROM ALADY FOR 500 AND TO THIS DAY IS THE PICTURE OF 4LBS OF HEALTH. (IF YOUR BUDGET DOES NOT ALLOW FOR A REPUTABLE BREEDER THEN MAYBE GO TO THE VET WITH THEM TO HAVE HIM CHECKED OUT. ALSO REPUTABLE BREEDERS HAVE SOLD PUPS THAT WERE SICK AND DIED(WHETHER THEY REFUNDED THE MONEY OR NOT) YOU NEVER ALWAYS KNOW.

I agree with what everyone has said. When I was looking for my new puppy around a week ago, I spoke to one man and he couldn't tell me how big the parents were, their color, and it was CKC registered. I finally found the perfect one, but my mom paid $1,500 for her. Beware of backyard breeders, you may spend a little more on the pup now, but you'll save it in the end with vet bills.

I wold want to see what conditions the dog is living in, and also the parents. Good luck to ya.

i decided not to purchase the dog , somthing just didnt seem right. just too many excuses and knda secretive.

You make a very good point about not wanting people to come to your house. And I don't have a big problem with the price. I think good healthy well-bred Yorkies come in all prices - low to high. I think the thing that worried me is all the evasiveness of the answers. But as I said before, I hope I am wrong......

I understand the not wanting to have strangers come to your home; but at the same time I think parking lots are not the ideal place to show a puppy. Where was the shot record, the pedigree, and pictures of the parents??? And while sometimes we are too trusting, the dog could have been stolen or sick....

I think you did a good job recognizing the red flags and walking away.

You will be soooooo thankful you went to Natalie. Don't buy from a parking lot.:cool: You will get stung--you will save the cash now... and spend it on vet bills later. It's only money $$$$ cannot take it with us. Enjoy:) :) :)

I agree to many red flags. I would want to see where the pup lived, the shot records and the parents. What are they hiding by meeting you in a parking lot?

The parking lot thing does seem strange. I have never been asked to meet someone in a parking lot when buying a dog! I've always gone right to the breeders home - usually after a lot of questions from her and several phone conversations. :)

Actually, its hard to admit it, but that is exactly where we got our little Sophie, in a parking lot. We were completely new to buying a puppy and saw an ad from a girl who said they bought 2 yorkies and then had a car wreck and needed cash. We lived a long distance from them (200 miles) and they met us half way from their house. We saw pictures ahead of time and were assured that they had papers. We, of course, fell in love with her at first sight, and were gullible enough to accept the excuse that they did not get the papers from the breeder yet and would send them right away. That was 3 yrs ago and you guessed it, no papers! We were given the name and phone # for the breeder but she cussed at us on the phone, telling us that the girl was paying payments on the 2 dogs and when she paid them off, she would give HER the papers. The suddenly all the phone numbers were disconnected and emails were rejected as undeliverable.

We learned our lesson and our last one was purchased in a much different fashion. However, neither of them were expensive! Our second one has a great pedigree and AKC registration. His family just could not handle his hyperactivity!

We now have a third yorkie (second girl) and are loving our little Yorkie family.

Just my little story, but I would not do the parking lot thing again. But I would not ridicule someone else who UNKNOWINGLY did the same thing.

Im not familiar with the states... but noticed another YT member had posted about her 11 week old pup being stolen from her..Not even sure if they are located in the same state, as I'm Geographically Challenged and also Canadian. But I did send her the link here as well

I totally agree!! I know i am going to make some people on here mad, but so be it. I have had 2 litters so far (in almost 2 years), and I have never let anyone come to my home that i didnt know to look at the pups. I always meet, I always take my husband, and we always meet in a crowded area. I take the parents with me of course and all vet records and if they want a pic of the inside of my home (where the pups and parents have their own bedroom) then i will email them to them. THere are alot of crazy people out there that will stop at nothing to get one or 2 for free and im not a very big person ( im 5'1" and 110 pounds) so if they came to look and decided they wanted to just steal them, then there is not an awful lot I could do. It is not that i am trying to hid anything like most of yall seem to think when it comes to something like this, I have a skin and fur family to protect and if that causes me to loose a few potential homes for my babies than oh well, better safe than sorry.

It sounds like the problem was not the meeting place but the evasiveness of the potential dogs owners...who knows if they were actually the owners or if it was stolen.

The breeder that I just went to uses a vet close to my house and I checked with him, plus he had the AKC papers and shot records, I met the sire and dam and he showed me their AKC pedigrees. I mean any responsible breeder or owner should be able to procure this information without a problem. I think you did the right thing by walking away.

Also, I forgot to add, any good breeder with an ethical breeding program in place will be more than willing to answer any questions you may have and will be more than willing to provide any documentation you request. Also, I have seen on here where alot of members have waited a long time for papers and never recieved them. Never take the pup home unless you have papers in hand.
Dont think that just because a pup is a little cheaper than normal means that the pup is sick or that something is wrong with the entire situation. I sold one of my babies to an older lady for $300 out of my last litter. She was alone in her home and wanted a companion. She was capable of financially taking care of all the babies needs and her home was imaculate (sp). I could have charged her more, but all I really wanted was for the baby to have a great home life and I get updates on her alot and she is spoiled rotten and doing great.
Im glad you walked away from that situation, i feel bad for that poor baby though. Theres no telling how the home life is for it and where it will end up or what they may do to it if they do not sell it. There are plenty of members on her that have great pups, and some of them do not cost a whole lot of $$. Talk to some of the ones with websites on here and they can guide you in the right direction on finding a great reputable breeder.
