I posted this in the Sick & Injured/Emergencies Talk board but no one replied. I'm really curious as to what you guys think so I'm posting it here.

Too soon for bully sticks?

Franklin has been driving me NUTS! And to think I missed him so much... Just kidding. But really... he's teething so he's been chewing on EVERYTHING. I haven't had a change to replenish his toy supply yet. I plan on doing that sometime today or tomorrow. But... even his old toys never satisfied his teething needs like a good ol' bully stick. I have some ordered that should be come in today. Is it too soon to give them to him? I don't want to upset his stomach but I don't know what else to give him. He's been eating and drinking normally and having fairly normal BM...

What do you think?

Well, I don't know much but I think the bully sticks would be fine to help with teething and to keep him busy.

I guess I forgot to mention.. for those who don't know, Franklin is recovering from parvo. We brought him yesterday.

i'd probably give it a bit... just a few more days to make sure his tummy is ok. it must be SO hard to say no to those eyes :)

happy to hear he is on the way to recovery:) As far as bully stix, have been letting my babies have them about a week, it will keep him busy:)

Hey Girl I Dont Think Anyone Was Ignoring Or Not In The Emergency Section On Purpose There Was A Girl On Here That Had Everyone Stirred Up And I Thought To Myself Exactly What If Someone Really Needed Us On A Thread How Much Time Was Being Wasted On Immature Stuff So Im Sorry But Im One To Blame Cause I Have Ridiculously Followed That Thread All Day!

Im No Help But I Did Know Your Baby Was Home And Doing Well Thank You For The Update Maybe Next Time All Of Us Will Not Be Preoccupied With Drama!

I have been too busy to be on much lately, but I am so happy that little Franklin is recovering! Parvo is terrifying ... we had a rescued Golden once that survived it. His recovery at home after the hospital was painfully slow ... I had to run home from the office 4-5 times a day to prepare a little "bland" food and feed him. He recovered beautifully!

When Toto was teething I always had lots of the little flavored Nylabones around and she was happy to chew on those. I don't know about bully sticks ... we have never used them. We don't give Toto anything except dental toys since she got choked a year or so ago. Please keep us updated on how Franklin is doing.

So glad your little guy is better. You might want to try ordering some that do not have the smoky flavor added. I think that upsets many tummies. There are a few here who sell them.......

I ordered Tricksie one, she is 17 months old, she chewed on it for 10 min. I took it away, testing it. She got a bacterial infection. I would send them back. Someone on YT said they were made from a Bull's penis.

Franklin's chewed on them for a while with no problems. I was just wondering if his intestinal tract was healed enough to digest them.

I dont know too much about Parvo but since he was throwing up a lot just last week i would keep bully sticks away for a week or so.... they have to be preserved and very high in protein.... keep him on something gentle till his tummy is all better.
You can try to get those plastic bones that come in dif flavors... i had them for Chewy when she was teething.

Could be but I have given up on any chewey things, tried so many and she doesn't chew she EATS.

martini loves bully sticks but that doesnt mean she dont try teething on the furniture or anything
