What Are The Yorkie Personalitys? I Have A Yorkiepom. She Has A Bad Personaliy I Think. She Barks And Growls At Anyone Who Comes To The House All Of My Sons Freinds, they Are All Teenagers. I've Noticed She Is Very Dominate. If You Pick Her Up To Hold Her When She's Sleepy She Will Growl And Bite You. She Sleeps At The Foot Of My Bed And If She Hears The Other Dog And Cats Coming To The Room Or Even If They Come Inside The Doorway She Will Growl And Bark At Them. Any One That Pulls Up She Growls At Them . My Neighbor Has A Camper Sales Next Door And She Goes Over There And Barks And Growls At The Customers. I Need Help. Also She Will Not Come To Us When We Let Her Outside. It Was 22 Degrees The Past Week And I Could Not Catch Her To Bring Her Inside She Wouldn't Do What I Said And Refused To Come In. She Loves The Outside. She Will Run From All Of Us Because She Knows We Are Tryin To Put Her Inside. I Think She Thinks She's The Boss. I Don't Know What To Do. Thanks |
anybody got any ideas? she is sweet most of the time. |
Sounds like you have quite a situation on your hands. Try enrolling in behavior classes. Crate training can be great, put her in there when you aren't home, or if you need time alone. She needs her territory just like you need yours. |
Mine barks and hates strangers too, but is a sweetie once they are settled in. |
Yeah I would definitely take her to obedience classes. If you can't afford that, try watching "Dog Whisperer". Cesar Milan has some awesome tips and you can really learn a lot. It seems like she is in control of everyone, including you. You need to establish yourself as the dominant one and then training can go from there. |
Can you tell a little more? How old is she? How long have you had her? |
The negatives you describe sound like they are coming from the Pom side. They are notorious for not coming when called, that and the barking is in their nature but they also like to please their owner, so keep working with that. I have heard numerous people describe this trait of not coming when called. Some say they think of it as a game. My boy is coming around at a year old and will often come or let me get him when called, but if he is in an especially feisty mood you can't touch him until he has a run or 2. I would look into some one on one training especially for all the growling and keep her on a leash outside so you can control her. Treats can be used in practicing come over and over with a long leash. I use the quiet command for the barking and have good success inside the house. I haven't figured out a way yet to completely silence mine outside. Good luck. They make those citronella collars that spray something when the dog barks. |
