Is he losing his hair????? Oh my God, I came home from NY yesterday, and my Cody was so excited to see me!!! He was left behind with my kids and mom. Anyway, I noticed a few weeks back that the roots on the top of his head are coming in gray. Normal right? Well, I am now noticing that his hair on the top of his head, right smack in between his ears, looks awfully thin and looks like it is balding, his scalp is clearly visible, scalp looks normal, he doesnt scratch, what could be the cause? Please help.  |
Furgie's hair is thin on top too...so I am waiting to see some replies. |
How old are they? Zoey's hair is thin and silky on top. I am wondering if her coat will be that of a silky and that is why it's like that. Either that or we need some rogain for them. I have only had Zoey for about three weeks now so I have changed her to a higher quality food and am giving her brewers yeast with garlic like I used to with Lulu...hoping that makes some changes for her. |
Im having the same problem with lyla. I thought it might be from me rubbing her head so much or combing too much? I would love to know why though. |
There are a few reasons this occurs. One is from growth hormone and the other is estrogen excess which occurs in feamales "and" males. I'd say if it gets worse you could talk to your Vet. about having the hormone level checked. If the hair has always been really thin since birth, then it's genetic. |

All of your puppies sound normal to me. The puppy coat is growing out and the hair is getting longer....therefore the scalp is more noticeable with the light hair plus it is long enough on top now to start laying down a little more. If you run your finger across the top of their head you will probably feel a little "nubby" feeling. That is new hair growth. IF the hair is actually falling out, then there is a problem. However, it probably isn't. Hope this helped:) |
OMG!! I was going to post a thread on the same topic. Isabella looks like she is going bald and I was like oh no, because my other dog is always licking her head so I thought he was making her bald. I still think I gotta get him to stop, but I hope it just like the last post and she is outgrowing the puppy coat. |
