Kris L. Christine, New Member Introduction Greetings! My name is Kris L. Christine. I live in Maine and am the Founder and Co-Trustee of THE RABIES CHALLENGE FUND (www.RabiesChallengeFund.org). My precious canine companion, Meadow, developed a malignant mast cell tumor directly on the site of his rabies shot at the age of 6 (syringe hole still visible in the tumor) and died in July after repeated surgeries failed to yield clean margins and the cancer metasticized throughout his body. It is my goal to make available to all dog owners the scientific data on the known durations of immunity for canine vaccines and the adverse reactions associated with them so that they can make informed vaccine decisions for their beloved companions. In 2004 I launched a successful effort to change Maine's rabies immunization regulations for dogs from 2 to 3 years and insert a medical exemption clause; later that year Representative Peter Rines introduced the nation's first pet vaccine disclosure legislation on my behalf. If anyone would like copies of the American Animal Hospital Association's Canine Vaccine Guidelines, the 1992 French challenge study demonstrating that dogs were immune to a rabies challenge 5 years after vaccination, the 2003 Italian study documenting fibrosarcomas at the presumed injection sites of rabies vaccines in dogs, as well as Dr. W. Jean Dodds' papers on vaccinal adverse reactions, please e-mail me at ledgespring@lincoln.midcoast.com. |
Hi, welcome to YT!! Goodness, you joined so early this am - looks like it's taken an unbelievable 12 hours to get a response!! That's like forever in YT time :p - sorry about that! Thank you for the information. I am so sorry for your loss. Do you now have another dog. Yorkies are absolutely wonderful. |
Welcome to yt. Glad to have you. |
Welcome!!!! I am so sorry for the loss of your Meadow. Congratulations and bravo for your efforts to be an advocate for all our babies. |
Hi Kris, I see you have 1 Yorkie! Welcome to YT, Kris & Butter. I'd of never even noticed your post if it wasn't for yorkiesmiles Bumping it up! Sorry to hear how you lost Meadow. It seems as though you're doing alot of good work in her name. I'm sure you'll find that many YTers are aware of the adverse reactions to over immunizing. |
Meadow & Butter Thank you all so much for your warm welcome! I certainly hope you are not disappointed to learn that my precious canines, Meadow & Butter, are (was in the case of Meadow) yellow labrador retrievers. My enduring love for Meadow has fueled my efforts to raise awareness about over-vaccination and change the status quo so that no other dogs will needlessly suffer Meadow's fate. Hopefully the vaccinal information I am able to share with any and all of you will enhance your Yorkies' health. What I have posted is a fraction of the information I have available in e-mailable form for anyone who requests it (you're also free to share it and post it, cross-post, etc...) -- please contact me at ledgespring@lincoln.midcoast.com for copies. |
Meadow & Butter -- My Dogs The response I thought was just posted to your warm welcomes seemed to have disappeared into cyberspace, please excuse me if it appears on an inappropriate topic list. Thank you all for your warm welcome. I hope you are not disappointed to learn that my dearest Meadow was a yellow labrador retriever, as is our sweet Butter. My deep love for Meadow is what sparked my efforts on behalf of all dogs to raise awareness about overvaccination, the adverse affects associated with it, and to make a difference so that no other beloved dogs will needlessly suffer a similar fate. Hopefully the vaccine information I am able to share with you all will help your Yorkies live healthier, longer lives. What I have posted is a small fraction of what I have available in e-mailable form, just contact me at ledgespring@lincoln.midcoast.com for copies. |
Hello Kris, that's so sad what happened to your Meadow, I'm glad people like you are fighting this over-vaccination cause, it's long over due....so many of our pets have died and been made seriously ill because of this horrible problem....what's even worse is to know it didn't need to have happened....I wish you well and success in your cause...... |
Welcome to YT! I look forward to reading all the info you have on vaccines  |
I am very interested in this subject and will be emailing you soon. Thank you so much for taking the time to inform us and to offer your expertise. I have long believed that most dogs were over immunized and have sought any/all information directly related to this subject matter. Thank you again .... and Welcome to YT. |
Welcome to YorkieTalk, Kris.:) I'm so sorry about Meadow.:( My Yorkie had a bit of a nasty vaccine reaction but thank God she is okay. It is so good to have you as a member here. Please post updates about the challenge.:) |
your information is important regardless if we are talking about yorkies or labs, so I don't think your membership here is a problem. My holistic/acupuncture vet - who was a traditional vet for yrs - has written papers and spoken on the over vaccination of our beloved pets. He does this outside the standard, as much as he can. I have posted some of what he has written here before. But the words you carry are so important, as a pet owner. Thank you for your dedication & drive to change things for so many others. Your passion to educate others is commendable. |
Thanks for bumping this up, I too am sorry for your loss. I also want to welcome you to Yt, I know you will love it here.. it can be very additive.. And good for you on your research and posting this thread. |
welcome to YT,glad to have you here.:wavey: |
