Pet Licenses for puppies When I got Gracie, I decided to be law abiding and got her a juvenile pet license when she was about 4 months old. I think it was $10. They sent me a renewal notice a few months later (she was not 1 yet) and they wanted another $20 (with proof of spay) or $30 without proof of spay. It really seemed like they were double dipping. I have not yet licensed Holly and probably won't do so until after she is spayed. Did any of you license your puppies or did you wait until they were adults? |
none of my pets are registerd with the city. |
No licenses here....I figure they are for dogs who live in a backyard or can get out. My dogs are always with me and live inside a house, not to mention they are chipped and they have collars with my phone #'s on them. |
I have two little men. One is 11 months and one is 3+ months. I was thinking of getting them licensed too. However, both are AKC registered with the lost found id tags, they are microchipped and my husband said if for some reason they do get out and have a license it won't matter becuase they won't be out long enough to be picked up by the local SPCA. He believes someone will snatch them up and take them home for their own or to sell. We had the same debat over microchipping, I figure if someone does take them and they end up at the vet the microchip will alert the vet with our name and address! When I had bigger dogs they all had a license and you are right the charges are unacceptable.:thumbdown |
Ellie isn't registered buy I might decide to do it soon. |
We never licensed our dogs but with Gracie in 4H and will be competing we have to for our fair. |
I've never even heard of licensing them..none of my 6 are |
I just licensed Zoë last week online, waiting for the tag to arrive. It's required here by law and since we don't have a whole lot of crime, we have a lot of local bylaw enforcement officers and police officers with time on their hands and power trips so they try and catch you on every little thing. Don't even think of Jay walking here LOL |

I haven't gotten lindsey registered yet (I might on Friday now that you mentioned it) but they are free in most clinics here when you get their rabies.... |
My dogs aren't registered, My fiance was supposed to do it when he did all the other registrations for our city/association but yesterday told me he didn't register them, so now i gotta do it. I only want it done because I fear if they ever do get lose I don't want to get in trouble for them not being registered. |

Wow I had no idea so many don't have licenses for their dogs. I just got all 10 dogs their license for this year. Here it is $14 a piece so it came to $140. If you have one under 12 weeks then it is only $7 and that lasts for a year like all the other license. But if you have a dog before the end of January and you don't have a dog license you have to pay double the price. If you get the dog in the middle of the year you pay the normal price but it is only good until January again. And the only thing mandatory is that they have their rabies shot. It would be nice to not have to renew their license every year but I am too afraid that they will get out one day and I will get fined for them not having their license. Of course the dog warden didn't help matters. She said if she saw any dogs outside or in public she would be checking to make sure they had their license and if not she would fine you. |
I never heard of a puppy license. Where I live if you are caught without a dog license, while you are out in public somewhere the fine is $350. If your dog is neutered or spayed the license is $6 per year, but if they have been microchiped you can get a lifetime license for $31. |
I dont even know if you need a license here |
