Things to try ... 1. Place the cage/kennel in sight of you. 2. Completely cover the cage/kennel. 3. Place something with your scent with him such as a robe or sweater. 4. Place a softy ticking clock wrapped in the robe or sweater. Battery or wind up only! 5. Place other items that mean comfort to him such as a favorite toy. 6. A very soft night light. 7. Purchase enough earplugs for whole family. |

LMAO at Number 7.:D we tolerated it until 1am then I asked the hubby to bring him in the room, the crate was covered, the moment he got to the room it was DEAD silent and we all slep well. I think even tho he couldnt see us he can smell not so? and Bandit was not as bad I as I has expected, uncovered cage is a NO NO he will make a scene, but it being covered he sniffed then came back to his bed. So I will do this from now on. But now that I will do this, wont this also mean separation anxiety at the max:eek: |

You could also try a "snuggle puppy"-It's a stuffed animal, but with a zipper or velcro pouch to put in a buckwheat packet that you warm in the microwave. You can use this over and over again..when Emma was a puppy, and we didn't let her sleep in our bed, we gave her one of these. She loved it so much-when she wanted to go to bed, she would go and get the puppy and carry it onto her bed or the couch. |
When Logan was a puppy he slept in a cage in the guest bedroom, we covered the cage with a blanket & left the radio on. He was never great, but would be quiet most of the night after the 1st 2 weeks. During the day he stayed in a playpen in the living room. after a few months we decided to try letting sleep in the playpen in the living rather then the cage. The playpen is right outside our bedroom door. He's been the perfect angle since. I think he felt like he didn't know what was going on when he was so separated from us. Now he knows he can go to sleep cause we are asleep too & not having fun without him. So if it works for everyone to have the cage in the bedroom then I say go for it. |

Great, yes, I have opted to put the cage there. He is getting the general idea no no peepee or poopoo in crate or house, so it seems he is learning fast. Hopefully in a couple of months he would have earned his freedom to sleep in bandit#s bed near me. I wonder how this will work out? they snuggle beautifully in the day in one bed in the washroom, so maybe it will work out so in bandit#s bed. |
He's probably uncomfortable without you. Maybe move the crate where he can see you. |
